Christopher Walken wants more cowbell with his HAIRSPRAY!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Variety tells us this morning that Christopher Walken has signed on to the film adaptation of the broadway musical adaptation of John Waters' HAIRSPRAY. So - I suppose this would be like... LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and THE PRODUCERS... in that film, broadway, film pattern... oh... and REEFER MADNESS. Of course - I'm still hoping for FREAKS the musical and OLDBOY the musical. But that's probably just me.

Walken, who simply transcends earthly bounds when he dances, will be joining John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Amanda Bynes, Michelle Pfeiffer, James Marsden, Zac Efron and that brand spanking new Nikki Blonsky in the Ricki Lake part. This could be amazing. That's a great casting. Now - if the casting of Adam Shankman (CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 2 and THE PACIFIER) scares the shit clean out of you. Do note that prior to those atrocities - Shankman was the choreographer on films like ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES (think Wednesday's awesome play and the dance numbers), DON JUAN DEMARCO, BOOGIE NIGHTS, A LIFE LESS ORDINARY and Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo. So he does have a history - albeit not a fantastic one with dance in film.

The denotes a really fun musical... let's hope the director rises to the task.
