Fox's MASKED MAGICIAN revealed in this article!!!

Glen here…

Well, I probably shouldn’t be doing this.

I’m guessing that as soon as I’m done posting this, I will be turned into a bunny rabbit or monkey or something (keep you comments to yourself). Or even worse, sawed in half. Or, simply made to disappear in a poof of smoke (a notion many Coaxial readers and television executives would embrace).

Now, traditionally, I wouldn’t post a spoiler this pointed and gigantic. But…believe it or not…I’ve actually gotten quite a bit of e-mail inquiring as to whether or not I knew who "The Masked Magician" was on Fox’s "Secrets of Magic Revealed" television specials.

Now I know. And if you scroll down past the numbers, you will know too.

THIS IS A SPOILER WARNING!!!

THIS WILL REVEAL THE IDENTITY OF THE "MASKED MAGICIAN" WHO HAS BEEN REVEALING MAGIC TRICKS ON ALL THOSE FOX TV SPECIALS.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW HIS IDENTITY, DO **NOT** READ PAST THE COUNTDOWN, WHICH BEGINS **NOW**

This message just in from ace Aint It Cool News contact (and all around cool guy) MORIARTY. Moriarty has, by the way, one of the highest reliability factors of any of our AICN associates.

Moriarty says:

Fox has, of course, had preposterous success with their whole series of "Breaking The Magician's Code" specials featuring the Masked Magician. One of the angles they have really played up in all their promotions for these cheap-ass knockoffs is that his identity is a "mystery!!" Silly, since whoever it was obviously wasn't an A-list talent to begin with. It's not like his name would mean anything to most viewers. It was really only other magicians who would care, and most of them had their pet theories. My favorite was that it was Lance Burton's ex-wife, who was a performer in a show produced entirely by him.

Last night, I saw this Thursday's BTMC:4, in which they finally reveal the identity of the Masked Magician.

It's as I would have predicted. He's the odds-on favorite, Vegas hack VALENTINO. Most viewers will go "Huh?" when his face is revealed. The show's almost worth watching just for his unintentionally hilarious "why I did it" monotone... uh, monologue, I mean. This guy should go back to the mask and not speaking, since his voice and delivery remind me of Doug Henning's breathy hippiness at its worst, and he resembles a slightly melted, much gayer wax figure of David Copperfield.

"Moriarty" out…

Glen here, again. Fox's newest magic special airs Thursday October 29.
