Well I've told you about plenty of coolness from ANTZ so far, and now we have a report from a test marketing of a potential trailer at the MALL OF AMERICA!!! BTW if anyone mentions that dang EW listing again I'll murdify ya, understand!!! Enough already. :)
So here ya go...
How's it going "Powerplayer" well I didn't know if you've had anything up yet about people actually seeing footage of Dreamworks "Antz" but this past weekend I was at Mall of Hell (a.k.a. Mall Of America) in Minnesota -ya you betcha... You see in this insanely big mall (the biggest in the America- go figure w/ that name) They have little booths set-up selling random crap such as T-shirts and food choppers ect....Well there was this one booth that grabbed my eye while I was on my way to go see "Gattaca" at the Mall's 14 screen megaplex. This booth
I saw they had monitors surrounding it playing trailers such
as "Lost
in Space" and these Virtual Reality type looking Lawnmower Man
goggles
laying down on a table by the monitors that looked cool. I
asked the
girl standing there with her clipboard whats going on with VR
looking
things and she said that there here to do research for
movietrailers
and to see what people react to different versions of trailers
that
have not been in theaters yet! I asked her "What are you guys
showing?"
and she said they just got "Antz" coool sign me up!!! Then she
said
I am to old to see it they want ages 5 to 12 or something like
that. She
realized that I really wanted to see it so she goes and says as
long as
you do a survey for "The Rainmaker" well I don't know another
John
Grisham movie and the trailer is 30 seconds long(the things I
do to see
something truly cool) well alright its a deal. The "ANTZ"
trailer I saw
started out real dark all you can hear is Woody Allen's voice
saying he
isn't satisfied with his life and things aren't fulfilling and
it
sounds like he is speaking to physiologist then you here a
little
deeper voice asking Allen why he thinks that is. Then you
notice what
looks like a person laying on a couch in the middle of a
nowhere and
you looking down at it with a birdseed angle so person is in
the middle
of the screen real far away. Then the camera starts to zoom
down on
Allen speaking then you notice it doesn't look like a person
anymore
the whole time the camera is zooming down you hear Allen saying
he's
not really down with building all the time and working in the
dirt and
the Queen deal also. He wants something more in life and he
doesn't
feel like an individual and he needs a change in life. By the
time he
is saying all this the camera has zoomed in all the way so
that you
see that Allen is an ANT with his arms behind his head speaking
real
relaxed like and his face fills the whole screen (well in my
case a
flickering monitor attached to my face and headphones)then the
Ant gets
up and keeps on complaining about his life and walks over to a
window
that looks out to city or something. Just as he gets to the
window the
doctor says to him is "The first thing you got to do is realize
that
you are not a individual your a Ant" and then the camera comes
swooping
over the Ants shoulder in to the city with this Danny Elfman
type
music I don't want to spoil it by going in detail what the city
looked like
or what the Ant looked like also....Other then you know the
shot at
the end of ROTJ:SE with Coruscant I thought the city looked as
cool
as that! So if your in the Minnesota area and at the Mall of
America
go look for the booth I think it was in the East Wing on the
3rd floor
and beg the woman to see it.
Until Next Time,
Agent Dow
