PSYCHO recreation Movie Poster

Last week I was talking to Jeffrey Wells of MR SHOWBIZ, L.A.TIMES, PEOPLE... he's one of them there real reporters. Anyway we were talking about Van Sant's PSYCHO 'recreation'. And we were kinda wondering out loud about whether or not it was a recreation. It seems neither of us had definate facts, but more like whispers. Moriarty first broached the subject quite some time ago. But since then Brian Glazer (producer boy) short of dropped the ball and started milly-mouthing around that there were changes beginning with the shower scene. Ya know, he didn't have to say that. If there are changes, I don't want to know. I mean, I really really hope they go way out there with the film. I hope it pushes the edge. I hope rumors about surreal editing during the Macy slaying are true, I hope that there are radical departures, and I hope we don't hear about them.

Why? Because the original PSYCHO was built on some misdirection. Hitchcock held fake auditions for the part of Mother. It was a big deal. So... I hope we are in for some misdirection. I hope we get caught off guard. I hope we do see a mixture of urine and blood swirling down the drain of the bathtub. Any stepping on Van Sant's toes should be screamed. He should be allowed to push the film in a different direction, if only to push us a bit. After all... that is what Hitchcock did. Here's the poster for PSYCHO, brought to you by Tom Joad. Thanks Joad!
