Review of ENEMY OF THE STATE from a press screening

Well Hallenbeck didn't care for it, so that's a plus for some people and a negative for others. I enjoyed it, I thought the film had a lot of good in it and was a lot of fun. The paranoia and the inability to escape got to me. But hell, you'll read that stuff when you read my review. It's not the best of type though. So here's a review from someone that really grocked it.

Cichlisuite here with another fine movie review for y'all. This time I had the extreme please to see a press screening for 'Enemy of the State' starring Will Smith and Gene Hackman. The passes were given out by Movie View and Mr. Bruckheimer and other big wigs were there. Bruckheimer gave a brief intro (work in progress....yada, yada, yada) and the flick started.

Well, this is gonna be a quickie since I'm too damn lazy to write an entire thesis on the flick. Let's just say that the film MORE than met my expectations. The basic theme of the film is invasion of privacy. The whole film had a paranoid feel to it. Lots of scenes of satellites in space running checks on our main characters and every bit of their life literally exposed for the world to see. I won't give a run down of the plot, since I'm sure everone and their 3-legged dog Joe already knows it. I will say that the ending is VERY clever and involves a VERY cool variation on the Mexican standoff.

Gene Hackman, as usual, kicks mucho ass. Will Smith more than holds his own and the two make a top-notch pairing. Sure, it starts off a bit slow, but once it gets going, don't expect to be let off the hook until the very ending. This is a real seat-gripper.

I give full reccomendation to Enemy Of The State, which is one of the smartest thrillers in a long time.
