Horace Horsecollar from the house of mouse sent in a report from the development slab (don't they have those in morgues?) at Disney. This upper echelon exec type was sooooo excited about the plethora of cool projects, that he just had to let em slip.
First thing he mentioned was a remake of Journey to the Center of the Earth!!!! "GERTRUUUDE!!!! GERRRRRRRTRUDE!!!!" Sorry about that, just an obscure reference for those people out there that appreciate such things. Of course the problem would be to find an actor cool enough to take the elder part that was played so well by JAMES MASON. We'll see, they could do some lovely work with this!!!
Next came ALADDIN, a live action film. Personally, in my opinion you simply can not do it as good as Rex Ingram and Sabu did. Alexander Korda did a great job on Thief of Bagdad. Of course, at the same time if someone who grew up with Ray Harryhausen films for brain food got ahold of this... then STAND BACK, because this one would rock. I can think of no director in the business right now, who I would like to have this project. So, I can only hope for the best and anticipate the worst!
Stretch Armstrong... NO! I don't want to see a Stretch Armstrong movie!!! Why? Because I want to see Fantastic Four or Plastic Man. I loved my Stretch Armstrong toy I had as a kid, BUT... A movie it is not. No, please no.
Inspector Gadget is looking better. The rewrite is expected in soon, Horace tells me, and the script is allegedly being groomed for a certain IN AND OUT star! That almost works for me. This film could be incredibly cool, if done right. We'll see, I'm gonna work hard on getting this script!!!
Then in closing Horace mentioned cryptically that Disney is readying a project having to do with Mars that is suppose to be a really elaborate production. No word about writers, directors, tone, or plot. Sounds like a neat slate of films, but I would trade em all for a STAR BLAZERS film!!!
