UPDATE!! A little freaked out by the events of tonight's episode? TV Guide's Michael Ausiello already has an interview with showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse explaining all. Read it HERE!!
First a word on the new movie directed by "Lost" co-creator J.J. Abrams, just because it's fresh on my mind. (Feel free to skip to the next paragraph.) In the exciting opening titles, it’s identified as “Mission: Impossible III.” I understand that the ad materials are going with “M:I:III.” Ad materials are wrong. Good movie, by the way. Loads of suspense. Swell dialogue. Memorable sound effects. Twists piled on turns. Supercool villain. But Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s “Is that the best you got?” line in the commercials doesn’t seem to find its way into the final product. I think.
Anyway, here’s the what with “Lost.” We’re left with five new hours spread over four Wednesdays. According to ABC’s crack publicity team, this is what we’re in for (beware noninvisotexted spoilers):
TONIGHT. “Two For The Road.” Ana Lucia flashbacks. “Jack and Kate bring an exhausted Michael back to the camp, and with him, news about "The Others." Meanwhile, Ana Lucia attempts to get the prisoner to confess, and Hurley plans a surprise date for Libby. Guest starring are John Terry as Christian Shephard, Rachel Ticotin as Captain Teresa Cortez, Michael Emerson as Henry Gale and Gabrielle Fitzpatrick as Lindsey.”
NEXT WEDNESDAY. “?” Eko flashbacks. (The question mark doesn’t mean we don’t know the title; the question mark IS the title. It refers to the thing in the middle of the blacklight map on the blast door.) “Mr. Eko enlists Locke to help find a secret location he believes houses answers to the island's mysteries. Meanwhile, Jack and the other survivors struggle to cope with the horrific situation in the hatch. Guest starring are Adetokumboh McCormack as Yemi, Peter Lavin as Caldwell, Oliver Muirhead as monsignor, Melissa Bickerton as Joyce, Felix Williamson as Dr. Ian McVay, Nick Jameson as Richard Malkin and Brooke Mikey Anderson as Charlotte Malkin.” There’s a horrific situation inside Swan Station! Cool!
MAY 17. “Three Minutes.” Michael flashbacks. “A determined Michael convinces Jack and several castaways to help him rescue Walt from 'The Others.' Meanwhile, Charlie struggles with Eko's decision to discontinue building the church. Guest starring are Malcolm David Kelley as Walt, M.C. Gainey as Mr. Friendly, Tania Raymonde as Alex, April Grace as Ms. Klugh and Michael Bowen as Pickett.”
MAY 24. “Live Together, Die Alone.” Desmond flashbacks! The two-hour season finale. J.J. Abrams was on the Howard Stern Show Monday and described the episode as “mind-blowing.” “After discovering something odd just offshore, Jack and Sayid come up with a plan to confront ‘The Others’ and hopefully get Walt back. Meanwhile, Eko and Locke come to blows as Locke makes a potentially cataclysmic decision regarding the ‘button’ and the hatch.” That’s right. Desmond flashbacks AND an Eko-Locke brawl! That could be good!
And it looks like that Jolene Blalock footage shot for 2.2 ain’t going to surface this season after all. (But don’t be shocked if it turns up on that Lost: The Complete Second Season DVD set that just went on sale.
