Not sure how much of this info is already out there, but I wanted to make sure all the bases got covered. The following message just came in from COUCH POTATO. Some DVD news, and a snippet of information about the trailer to Disney’s forthcoming animated TARZAN feature.
I agree with everything Couch Potato says about TARZAN, by the way. From what I’ve seen it should be quite good. I haven’t liked any Disney animation since THE LION KING, and thought *that* was only fair. But TARZAN? Well, TARZAN may be the real deal.

Hello, friends! This is the first time I’ve ever contacted you, and this may all be old news for you, but Ill pass it on anyway. I work for a movie store (part of a large chain) and this weekend attended a large convention at which we heard from many studio representatives. A few items of interest:
- X-Files on DVD February 9th - confirmed. (Glen Note - Couch Potato is referring to the feature film).
- Star Wars on DVD - Fox HOPES to release them next fall, between Aug and Oct.
- Back to the Future Spec Edition DVD (and VHS) in first half of '99.(Glen Note - this is, more specifically, a "collector's edition". "Special" denotes changes, etc. - which aren't happening to the best of my knowledge...)
- Saw new trailer for Disney's Tarzan. This is the big one - it had no dialogue at all, just Phil Collins singing the pop version of one of his songs from the soundtrack, showing snippets of him recording and goofing off, inter-cut with ASTOUNDING footage (much of it work-in-progress) of the animated film.
This looks like it may be Disney's best film since The Lion King. Absolutely awesome! The animation is clean, beautiful, and well-designed, getting back to a more standard style after the Pocahontas / Hercules/ Mulan experimental stylistic phase they went through. The song was great, although I am interested to hear the film version with characters' voices. I dont know what else to tell you...I’m ready to shell out my money NOW!… Couch Potato
