Stare Into A New FOUNTAIN Screensaver While Listening To Kanye West's Crappy M:I Theme Redux!!

Merrick...

…here with two points of possible interest. One is kind of nifty, and in the other…well…suckage reigns.

Remember that eerie “ocean of fire” screensaver you could download from THE FOUNTAIN website a while back? The really freaky one in which, if you stared into it long enough, you started seeing imprints of things? It felt like a broiling Rorschach test…or was it just me?

Well, THE FOUNTAIN website has been updated with a new screensaver. This one looks like “The Other Side” from POLTERGEIST 2, or the Mutara Nebulae from STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN – except it isn’t as colorful as either of those places.

I think I still prefer the original download, but I haven’t ogled this one long enough to be sure. You can access THE FOUNTAIN website, and download either the old or new screensaver, HERE.

Also, Cihan pointed out that Kanye West’s reworking of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE theme (from M:I III) has been posted at goodmusic.net. It’s pretty terrible - I’m assuming (hoping?) that it’s something of a throwaway in the movie, whose full score is by Michael Giacchino.

Giacchino scored LOST (TV), Pixar’s THE INCREDIBLES, and a whole slew of interesting projects. But, personally, I most love his work on the MEDAL OF HONOR video game series. His music for MOH: FRONTLINE, a fully orchestrated, balls-to-the-wall action score, rules. “Manor House Rally” always gets me going – can’t stop humming it whenever I hear it. All of Giacchino’s MOH scores are now available on iTunes. If you haven’t heard them, you might enjoy checking out some samples.

Or, you can check out Kanye’s piece, and scourge it in the Talkbacks below…
