Update on THE BEST OF QT FEST!

Hey folks, Harry here - just got this update from Tim League regarding the QT fest and your opportunities for getting in to catch the mayhem. So - here ya go, this is the nitty gritty...

Hey Harry, I wanted to give your readers a heads up about the upcoming QT FEST screenings going on at the Alamo Drafthouse. Once again, tickets sold out in a matter of minutes for the week long festival hosted by Quentin Tarantino. There are still three ways to come and check it out though.

1) The Tuesday April 25 Outdoor show. The downtown Alamo was booked up on the Tuesday of QT Fest for round 5 of the Austin Air Guitar qualifying rounds, so we're taking QT Fest out to THE GLENN ( Click Here! ), an intimate outdoor amphitheater outside of Austin where we can fit a hell of a lot more folks. Quentin is going to be presenting the very first double bill that ever played QT Fest: Richard Rush's THE SAVAGE SEVEN and Jack Starrett's THE HOLLYWOOD MAN (see synopsis below). Tickets for the double bill are just $20 and are available at Rolling Roadshow

2) The Standby Line. Last year we were able to accommodate 95% of those people who waited for standby tickets at each night of QT Fest. Even if you don't have tickets, come early and wait until just before showtime, if VIP badge holders don't show up, we sell the open seats - $20 for double features, $30 for triple bills and all-nighters.

3) See the 2nd and 3rd films of double features and all-nighters. The harsh reality is that a lot of the folks who come to QT Fest just can't measure up to the movie junkie crowd and will cash it in after a single film. If you come for the second film of a double feature, triple bill or all-nighter, it's just $10 to get in and we can almost always find seats for the standby crowd.

I hope to see you guys out for QT Fest, especially the killer Tuesday outdoor show. We'll be loading up with vintage trailers before each film, and Quentin's introductions are worth the price of admission alone. With the possible exception of Buttnumbathon, this is my favorite event at the theater for the entire year! Get more info at OriginalAlamo.Com. Proceeds from this event benefit the Austin Film Society.

Synopsis of the Tuesday Films

THE SAVAGE SEVEN
1968, dir Richard Rush

Rock n roll legend Duane Eddy stars in a savage biker film! Rock n roll soundtrack by Cream (theme song), Iron Butterfly and others! Outlaw bikers descend on a small town just outside an Indian reservation, where the Indians are being oppressed by an evil mine owner and his henchmen. The bikers align themselves with the Indians, then switch sides, then switch back again. The bad guys murder an Indian girl and the bikers get the blame. A huge battle between bikers and Indians follows. Larry Bishop, Duane Eddy, Penny Marshall, John Garwood, Adam Roarke, Max Julien, Richard Anders, Mel Berger, Billy Rush, John "Bud" Cardos.

HOLLYWOOD MAN
1976, dir Jack Starrett

Hollywood action film star Rafe Stoker (William Smith) has sunk $130,000 of his own money into his own production, but can't find legitimate financing to complete the film. His mob-connected investor demands an exorbitant amount of collateral and a guarantee that Rafe hand over a commercially acceptable film in 4 weeks, then hires a gang of psycho bikers to sabotage the picture to ensure he collects Stoker's collateral. As if a cranky local cop and bad weather didn't slow production enough, Crazy Harvey decides to take Rafe out of the picture after Rafe shows him up once too often. Co-starring cult favorites Mary Woronov and Don Stroud and directed by the great, late director/character actor Jack Starrett (CRY BLOOD APACHE, RACE WITH THE DEVIL).
