That headline quote is the inspiration for the title of the film this report is on. Lots of Name Stars in this one and Father Geek here is looking forward to seeing it when it arrives in Austin, but for now I'll have to make do with Typin's brief little review.
I had the distinct pleasure of seeing DANCING ABOUT ARCHITECTURE a couple of days ago. This is a Miramax movie that is scheduled to come out around Christmas and stars Sean Connery, Gena Rowlands, Ellyn Burstyn, Jay Mohr, Angelina Jolie, Ryan Phillipe, Gillian Anderson, Madeline Stowe, Jon Stewart and Anthony Edwards. This wonderful script was written and the movie was directed by Willard Carroll. I have no idea what this guy has done before, but let's hope this is just the beginning for him.
The story is told very much like the typical Altman movie - a slow moving character study with each storyline exhibiting similar themes in a different setting. It is a movie about communication and love and communicating about love. The film walks the line between drama and comedy brilliantly. Yes, I laughed (very very hard in scenes) and cried. Performances are all top notch with Gena Rowlands and Jon Stewart really standing out. I don't want to give away anything else, but this is a must see for 1998!
All for now,
Typin
