Harry here, with our old friend Compukiller's look at VERY BAD THINGS. The film is out there. It's sick, it's twisted, it makes SHALLOW GRAVE look happy. The film will quite honestly disturb whole sections of our society. It will make some people ill at it's depth of black comedy, but for us sickos of the world... well it's the nectar of the gods. For any that play the Death Race 2000 game while they drive, for those that quote Deliverance, for the people that laugh with glee during Pulp Fiction, well VERY BAD THINGS is as sick as they come, and here's Compukiller's look...
I had the privelige of checking out Peter Berg's "Very Bad Things". I know it doesn't open for awhile, but, well, let's just say I ran across a copy of the film. There will be no spoilers in this review:
The film stars Christian Slater, Cameron Diaz, Jon Favraou, Jeremy Piven, and Daniel Stern. Basic plot description: 5 guys have a bachelor party in Vegas, stripper winds up dead, and all hell breaks loose.
That may sound very simple and unoriginal, but, let me tell you, this flick is anything but. The unspoken gripes, and the true nature of the 5 men, and 1 woman, are revealed in a totally hilarious, yet extrememly violent manner. This is a totally excellent film by all standards, and definelty will make my top 10 of the year list.
The acting by everyone is equally great, but I must say that Slater and Piven are especially great. The film has a definite visual style, and it totally fits the material. The film was written and directed by Peter Berg ("Chicago Hope", "Cop Land"), and I think he definetly deserves a screenplay Academy Nod for this film. The film's dialog is classic, and the plot twists come fast and furious.
Harry, everyone, go check out this wonderful flick when it opens. I give it 5 stars out of 5. This film can be described as Pulp Fiction meets Shallow Grave meets There's Something About Mary, but that doesn't do it justice. Go see it, and if you're a sick freak like me, you won't be disappointed
Hope you find this interesting.

P.S. If you can catch the "Cop Land" reference in the film, then you watch too many films, just like me.
