Harry here, I just talked to a source inside Digital Domain that told me that while the information below WAS true, that last week the effects job on GLADIATOR was awarded to THE MILL, the company doing some work for BABE: PIG IN THE CITY, RHYTHM AND HUES did most of the work on that film though. This is quite a coup for THE MILL, since they are mainly known for their commercial work. So the scenes described below will be in the film, just not done by Digital Domain. Daniel Loeb had been out of contact when the decision came in.
Well here's the latest on GLADIATOR and man, this does sound cool. Can't wait to hear more on this project. All I know is that Russell Crowe is involved and Ridley is thinking of building that big statue dude of Rhodes. But this stuff sounds like the sort of thing I could veg out to.... here ya go...

you can call me "Dr. Schneider".
Yesterday, Daniel Loeb - one of Digital Domain's most famous animators, best known for his work on virtual sets and characters in "Titanic" - held a lecture on his work here at our film school in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
After the lecture, I asked him about future projects and he said that Digital Domain will do the visual effects for Ridley Scott's upcoming film "Gladiator".
Even more so, he revealed that they will not only create a lot of digital extras and buildings, but that one of the highlights of the film will be a sequence in which a gladiator fights a CGI Rhinoceros (...and will allegedly be pierced by its horn... now that's what I call typical Ridley Scott violence par excellence.)
I hope that's interesting enough for you to publish.
Bye
DR. SCHNEIDER
