Glen here…
WINKY wrote in with some information about the possibilities of Hong Kong "action film star" turned American pop icon Jackie Chan appearing in an episode of long-time associate Sammo Hung’s new CBS series MARTIAL LAW. How’s that for a run-on sentence?
Whether or not Chan would actually make any appearances in MARTIAL LAW has recently been the subject of great conjecture. Winky’s message is the first indication Coaxial has received that a Chan guest- shot may actually be in the works.
'Tis *way* cool if this actually works out. Here’s what WINKY had to say:
Jackie Chan will appear as an uncredited extra on the Oct. 24th episode of Martial Law. Jackie was in LA for the premiere of Rush Hour, and he decided to drop by the set to visit his old pal Sammo.
Stanley Tong, one of the exec producers, and Jackie Chan had just finished a discussion about Jackie possibly guest-starring on an episode. As Jackie went to head for the door, Tong asked him to wait a few minutes until filming stopped. Without missing a beat, Jackie pulled off his jacket and strolled into the background of the shot. He has no lines, unfortunately.
This was not planned, but Tong decided to leave the shot in the episode. Hopefully, Jackie will return for a "proper" guest-starring role.
