Oh, man, does this review give me the blue balls something fierce. I want to see a great new De Palma film this year, and this is one of the first reactions I’ve seen to the film, which must be test-screening at the moment. It’s short, so be aware that this isn’t meant to be some comprehensive overview of the film. Instead, it’s just a taste of what we might expect to see later this year:

Got to see an early preview of THE BLACK DAHLIA the other night and man was I impressed. Haven't been a fan of DePalma's since RAISING CAIN (HIGHLY underrated if you ask me) but our boy is back: same cool slow tracking shots from UNTOUCHABLES and DRESSED TO KILL, some great fucking performances from the 'new Hollywood' (alas I do miss Nancy Allen) and surprisingly the same kinda great twisted and moody storytelling techniques we haven't seen since SISTERS.
Don't wanna spoil anything but there is some very steamy threeway shit goin down between Scarlett Johansen, Aaron Eckhart and Josh Hartnett here. Totally erotic - even kinky and I pray they don't cut that shit out for sake of ratings cuz it was quite diggable. Gotta say though that the real shocker here was Hilary Swank - playing the ultimate femme fatale - she's almost unrecognizable at first: long flowing hair and voluptious bod - she's giving us TOTAL vixen and man does it work!
Come awards time next year - this one'll be in there. I predict right now that Josh (the Monkey) Friedman will be winning for best adaptation - just incredible work. No idea when this comes out but thank God they're still making cool dark stuff like this.
