Harry here with a report from Macguyver (a corporate fast food Mark Hamill character?) Right now, the film is scheduled to be released some time in 1999, but as far as I can tell, doesn’t have a targeted release date quite yet. All I know is I really love Hopkins and Sutherland, and Cuba is on a roll for me. Let’s keep our eyes on this one... Remember this is still just an early test screening and much of the film will have some different aspects to it when you see it in your local theater next year. But from this early report... well it sounds like a winner
Hi harry... L.A. spy Macguyver reporting. I just got back from an Agoura showing of Instinct where I was then asked to be in the panel afterwards, and subsequently recieved $10 from NRG (thanks for my lunch tomorow guys!). This movie (based on the book Ishmael) starring Anthony Hopkins (also appearing was Cuba Gooding Jr... who was much better than he was in What dreams may come, but still not stellar.) was excellent and only had very few negative points. Without spoiling to much... On the good side: Anthony Hopkins was amazing - stan winstons ape effects were great - it moved along at a nice clip switching back and forth from the fascinating scenes where Hopkins is being psychologically evaluated and the mystery unraveled, to intense action and tear jerking revelations. Solid directing too. Bad side - Some scenes that showed some kind of attachment developing between hopkins daughter and cuba godding jr. should have either been expanded upon or eliminated, and at one point near the begining some fancy fade effects just got in the way of the story and served more as a distraction. And Cuba Gooding Jr. was supposed to have gone through this dramatic change in his view of the world and what he values (according to his own explanation near the end), but that was never made clear in any other way than his verbal explanation. I'm really Nitpicking though. THis movie was excelent and will most likely be critically acclaimed.
