Now some of you out there have been clamoring for news on VIRUS, a Universal sci-fi project directed by technical cool dude John Bruno (look him up on IMDB)
Well from all reports it was an Effects nightmare. Apparently, Goliath the main mechanical spider robot creature which also resembles a giant T2 robot was a mess. It moved like a bad theme park attraction, and each robot was at a cost of a million dollars. The company All Effects who did Johnny 5 ("Number 5 is Alive!!!") in the film Short Circuit which has since closed, is allegedly being sued by Universal Pictures, all or most of their robot effects are being replaced by CGI by Phil Tippet who did Starship Troopers.
On a positive side the effects done by Steve Johnson's XFXs Unit, is doing some very interesting work. Which resembles Borg. According to my on set people Jamie Lee Curtis hated working on the flick, because of director John Brunos, bad communication skills, and the way he treats live action stars. But we've heard these types of reports before, mainly about such directors as James Cameron and George Lucas, and we know how badly their films turned out (heavy on the sarcasm)!!! We'll just have to wait and see on this one.
