Not much, but apparently if you are really important, and you tour the Lord of the Rings sets and behind the scenes stuff.. well ya get a nifty Gandalf sculpture. Too Cool. As for this Prime Minister Jenny Shipley, she has to have friends, you you're her friend see what you can get out of her about that footage she saw, the models, the paintings. Start off talking about something allegedly important then casually mention the article and see where that leads. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Sure, it could happen, it could. Oh well, can't blame me for trying....
Another article on Peter Jackson and LOTR popped up in today's Evening Post. Not too much about the film, but the picture shows a minature of Gandalf, which is presumably the look they will be going for.
Here's the article:
PM sees wizardry of Jackson's studio
Prime Minister Jenny Shipley got a rare glimpse of film director Peter Jackson's workshop today.
Jacksons' WingNut Films will begin shooting The Lord Of The Rings trilogy by mid-1999. The Miramar studio is in full swing on development work - writing scripts, preparing models and scouting for locations.
After an hour-long tour, Jackson presented Mrs Shipley with a minature metal model of Gandalf as a souvenir. The wizard had a tall hat and a beard.
Mrs Shipley said the project was "most exciting" and a breakthrough for the New Zealand film industry.
Jackson showed the Prime Minister preparatory paintings of how Middle Earth would look on film - green and misty - and scale models of sets.
"We showed her some of the computer [research and development] work we've been doing," Jackson said.
"There's about 50 models we will have to make and we've done three or four of those."
He hoped the Government would smooth immigration paths if any overseas specialists were needed, and give the go-ahead to film in national parks.
