The winner of the Weta Collectibles Narnia bookends contest is...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with the winners of the Weta Collectibles Contest giving away those Narnia Bookends I ran a few weeks ago. If you remember, the contest was pretty loose on the particulars... I wanted to see a bridge, using books, between Aslan on one side and the White Witch on the other. It could be anything you like. I thank everyone who entered, but the one that edged out the competition came from Ryan McDonald from Canada.

He used a variety of books to illustrate the story of THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE step by step, plot point by plot point. Here's the winning entry:

Hey Quint,

I've got a couple of files for you to look at. Yes, all four of these files are under 100k, as per requested. i have higher resolution shots of all these photos, just message me back if you want 'em, or if you have problems opening them.

The first three "narniastory" files are of the same bookstack. i had to take three different photos of the same stack so you could read all of the titles. the last pic, "narniastorywhole" is of all of the books in one single shot, but the titles are kinda hard to read on the last file and that's why I took three separate pictures of the stack.

The titles of the books pretty much give a basic synopsis of the entire Chronicles of Narnia. They mostly cover the main events/themes that Lewis presented in his series. Here's the list of the books (and authors), from left to right:

At the Gates of the Animal Kingdom - Amy Hempel
The Lost World - Michael Crichton
Green Grass, Running Water - Tom King
Cat's Cradle - Kurt Vonnegut
Vineland - Thomas Pynchon
Stone Angel - Margaret Laurence
Queen of the Damned - Anne Rice
Heart of Darkness - Joseph Conrad

Soul on Ice - Eldridge Cleaver
War Without Mercy - John Dower
Surrender - Roy Miki
The Fall - Albert Camus
The Executioner's Song - Norman Mailer
Songs of the Doomed - Hunter S. Thompson
Paradise Lost - John Milton
Icefields - Thomas Wharton

The Return of the King - JRR Tolkien
The Sound and the Fury - William Faulkner
Reasons to Live - Amy Hempel
Their Eyes Were Watching God - Zora Neale Hurston
The Sun Also Rises - Ernest Hemingway

Again, message me if you have a problem with any of the shots; I can send you some better quality/larger shots if you want.

Keep up the great work on this site! And keep the contests coming!

-Ryan McDonald

Congrats, Ryan. Good job! Thanks again to all who entered!

-Quint
