Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with yet more Guild Award Nominations for you. This time we have the Directors Guild of America who have plucked 5 directors out of their pool to nominate for the annual DGA Awards. Much like the Producers and Writers Guild Award noms, the Directors noms are a good gauge of the eventual Oscar front-runners. Here are the lucky five!
George Clooney - Good Night, And Good Luck
Paul Haggis - Crash
Ang Lee - Brokeback Mountain
Bennett Miller - Capote
Steven Spielberg - Munich
I'm glad to finally see MUNICH's name thrown into the race and CAPOTE is really great. I'm embarrassed to say I haven't seen BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN yet, but I will make sure I rectify that before this weekend is over. I also really love the way Clooney directs a film and GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK really hit its mark... although is it just me or did it almost felt like half a movie? Maybe I'm alone there. All in all, not a bad catch. Who do you think was overlooked?
