I am – Hercules!!
Howard Stern doesn’t start his new Sirius satellite-radio morning-show until next Monday, but his gaggle of replacements take up the microphone today.
New York City and a number of other East Coast markets are getting former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth. Which sounds dreadful until you realize Whoopi Goldberg was another name on CBS’s short list of replacements.
Still, listeners in Los Angeles and other West Coast markets are getting Adam Carolla, perhaps the only guy on the planet who may be better on the radio than Stern.
I am frequently awed by Carolla’s big-brained improvisational wit, but his previous starring radio gig was the non-drivetime (and not terribly competitive) “Loveline” on, among other outlets, KROQ-FM. So Christ only knows how long either of these well-compensated fellows are going to last.
If anybody out there has access to radio ratings data, don’t be shy about writing in.
In the meantime, take up valuable bandwidth you’re your predictions and reactions.
UPDATE: Carolla's news girl is model/veejay Rachel Perry! She's pretty! Far too attractive for radio! Have a gander here.
