Speaking of the Russian Mafia, the Blues Brothers 2000 are going to have to deal with them as well. They kinda replace the Neo-Nazis. Now I had heard alot of bad reports about this script from a lot of sources, but I actually liked it quite a bit.
First of all you have to be able to hear the voices of the people saying the lines. I mean when James Brown has a line, it isn't read like a mere mortal. I mean this is JAMES BROWN, you have to read his lines with a power that drives the hardest working man in showbiz. And when B B King is talking, well it's B B KING and is automatically elevated to CLASSIC status.
But this film should have you from the opening shots of Elwood being released from prison. The world changes around him as he stands awaiting the arrival of Jake for 18 hours or so. And it isn't till Prison Warden Frank Oz (remember his "One Condom... Used" line from the original?) tells him what's up, that he begins to move. Personally I picture this scene ala Arnold in T2 looking out of the gas station as the light changes to night then back to day.
And personally I can't wait to hear the Blues Brother rendition of "GHOST RIDERS ON THE PLAINS" especially with the clouds and the tractor trailer pull, the Russian Mob and the Cooke County Police Department. Pure bliss I anticipate!!!!
