Eat Some Cake And Watch The MARIE ANTOINETTE Trailer!!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

Fascinating. I read the script for this film about a year ago, and I thought it was very slight, very rough, but potentially interesting. The main reason I’m curious is because I think Sophia Coppola is one of the most promising filmmakers working right now. I adore THE VIRGIN SUICIDES, and I thought LOST IN TRANSLATION was lovely, if a bit overrated. Right away, there are some odd choices in this trailer, but they’re odd in a way that makes me want to see more.

CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF!!

Thanks to JB for pointing this one out.

"Moriarty" out.

Hey folks, Harry here... Mori chimed in on this - but frankly - I'm not really satisfied with how he handled the introduction of this trailer. If the tone of this trailer is at all indicative of what Sofia Coppola is going for. Which is to infuse the story of MARIE ANTOINETTE with the youthful splendor of something like ROMEO & JULIET by Baz Luhrmann or to a less radical degree, but an equally odd musical choice with BUTCH CASSIDY & THE SUNDANCE KID. To use music to infuse that spirit of being a fuck it all young person that is high on the decadence that is living life to its fullest and fuck anyone that isn't lucky enough to be me... Then this has the potential to be an incredibly vibrant, joyful and tragic film. Something that is shooting for something not stodgy and gathering dust under glass, but that's alive and thrilling and different. This trailer is exhilarating and fun. In the oh so short period of that song, I felt the rush of the party that must've been MARIE ANTOINETTE's life. That thrill of being allowed to do and be anything. Can you imagine the accompaning downfall music as it all tumbles in on itself and the ride is over and devil is demanding his due? Absolutely electric. The film literally just shot up my anticipation level. And how about that fan shot? That's the fucking billboard right there. What a shot!
