FROM TV TO FILM NEWS OF THE WEEK: Mel Gibson is in talks to star and produce a feature version of HOGAN'S HEROES>

REMAKE NEWS OF THE WEEK: James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment is negotiating to buy the remake rights to Andrei Tarkovsky's 1972 Russian film SOLARIS.

That is a lot of stuff for one week. THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE is starting to take cool forms. *** Marlon Brando news is certainly welcome. ONE ARM sounds promising. *** LIBERTY HEIGHTS and THE PRINCE OF CENTRAL PARK should be watched closely. I think they will both be cool. *** THE BACHELOR--remaking Buster Keaton. I dunno...what do you think? *** HOGAN'S HEROES...I was wondering roughly 3 weeks ago if this would ever happen. Sure enough... *** No Puff Daddy in the Oliver Stone flick. I am rather disappointed. This would have been beyond interesting. *** Tom Hanks and James Cameron both on two separate remake projects. Worth it? I'm betting so. *** To a couple of you who asked last week if Tarantino was remaking the FORTY GUNS flick: No. He is adapting Elmore Leonard's novel FORTY LASHES LESS ONE. (I missed this tidbit last week.) I'm not familiar with the story, but I do know it is a wester.

See ya.
