Now I don't know about you, but for me... ONCE WERE WARRIORS slapped me serious. A stunningly powerful work. So of course I'm interested in the gollow up project, so here's a brief bit about it. Wish I had more info though...
Heres some news from New Zealand that is NOT related to a certain fantasy epic, but still might interest you. Production for the follow up to the NZ made Once Were Warriors is currently underway here. It is entitled "What becomes of the broken-hearted" and is based on the Allan Duff novel of the same name.
It is being directed by Ian Mune who is a well known name in film and television here in NZ. The film will basically follow the efforts of Jake -the muss- Heke (again played by Temurea Morrison), in his efforts to get back on his feet and become a decent member of society again after the events in Once Were Warriors. Rena Owen also appears again in a smaller role here as Beth Heke. Morrison describes "Broken-Hearted" as an emotional journey for Jake where "Warriors" was an emotional journey for Beth.
Well there you go, hope you find this interesting.
