Further News on THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE

I got a report early yesterday about HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE that told me about not only Lili Taylor and Liam Neeson, but also spoke of Catherine Zeta Jones as Theodora. The report also spoke of TIPPET STUDIOS getting the contract, and that lensing would begin in December. Well imagine my surprise that while I was updating this morning, lo and behold Variety and Hollywood Reporter both have the Catherine Zeta Jones stuff. Sigh... Ya can't win em all, though I have to say the James Cameron and SOLARIS bit over at Hollywood Reporter did get me smiling.

Ok, I'm sure that bit about TIPPET STUDIOS being involved in the effects end of things probably scared a buncha ya. No, not because they're awful, they're great you doo doo head!!! No, I know some of you cringe at the thought of Caspar flying around yelling "BOO".

I'm gonna tell you this. The scenes of noises running around the walls, ceilings and floors, the breathing door... all of that stuff is here. It's just at a certain crucial point in the story, late in the story, the ante gets raised. This is masterfully handled in the script. And some of my all time, GOD I WISH THEY COULD HAVE DONE THIS, bits are in there. Lots and lots of subtle but scary as hell effects work. Don't worry, Caspar does not appear. And the film as written is very psychological. The only worry I have is DeBont. I really really hope he can pull this off, this is the first time though that he has had a great script. Perhaps he can, though I have to say I'm not entirely confident in the project yet. Though this casting is quite amazing. Liam Neeson is going to be sooooo perfect as Dr Markway. Too cool.. Now as LUKE... hmmmmm, they need to get ED NORTON, and as Mrs Dudley they need a completely unknown creepy woman! At least that's my thoughts, how about yours?
