The Lucky BNAT 7 Audience Here! Sorry For Those That Didn't Get In...
Published at: Oct. 31, 2005, 7:27 a.m. CST by staff
Hey folks, Harry here... This is such a difficult process. You really have no idea how tough this is. I read them all, every single submission - and there just are not enough seats to even make a dent in them all This year there were some tough situations for me personally. Some folks that had made every BNAT forgot to send in their request - and me being so forgetful - didn't remember them, so as a result even some of my personal friends didn't get in, some friends like Hercules had issues arise that is keeping him from attending this year. There were over 6000 emails - requesting over 13,000 seats. This list doesn't represent everyone - there were those of you that wished to be kept anonymous, some for fame reasons... some because they're going to claim sick days to make it and they don't want to risk the unfortunate chance of having their name see and then the unfortunate results of that action. There's also seats being held for filmmakers whose films are playing. So - is hope lost for you if you didn't make the list? Not at all, though... the remaining spots will be available to Day Of Screening Standby Line Attendees. I'll have details about that closer to BNAT on December 10-11.
For those of you coming... There's no outside food or drink allowed in. No cel phones, p.d.a.s, still cameras or video cameras allowed. In fact, it's a pretty good idea to leave any and all electronics at your hotel room, simply so you don't end up in a hassle when going through the inevitable security that is required in order to screen some of the films we'll be screening. Some are potentially months upon months upon months away from release. So remember - the less you bring into the theater - the more time you'll save getting in. BNAT isn't about the outside world for those 24 hours, it's about the inside world. It's about the people sitting around you and the films you all just watched. It is a time for new friends and possibly old ones. It's about 24 hours of moments to cherish and relish. Writing about BNAT, sharing BNAT... that's the stuff of memories in the days after. Then it's time to share with everyone you know.
For those of you that didn't get in, I really really wish you were coming too. So much of BNAT is me wanting to give everyone coming the greatest time they can have in a year of film going... and I hate that it is every a disappointment in someone's life, merely because there are those that, just didn't get in. For those of you that didn't make it, spend that weekend seeing as many films as possible with those you love to see movies with. Don't think about what you aren't seeing by not being a part of BNAT - and I know you won't... everyone that wrote loves film intensely, and hopefully I will see you next year. Because BNAT isn't going anywhere, and there will always be another!

The above poster was created as one the "bonus" art submissions by Russell Lingo of Austin. Only thing he didn't do on it was make the belly big, I did that, so it would be accurate. And represented what he hopes BNAT 7 represents. I think about 100% of submissions think that movie is playing, I figure, why not play to that delusion.
For those of you that made it - When this article's headline says "UPDATED" on the main page - I'll have a link to the Drafthouse's Site and the ticket purchasing information that you'll need to take care of. If you can't make it, contact me ASAP so that I can give some other lucky BNAT dreamer their chance to make it. Tim's been out of town on personal business - I apologize this info isn't here immediately, but stay tuned.
