Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little tidbit on the career of one Tony Scott. Scott was in the process of reteaming with Denzel Washington for a sort of sci-fi flick called DEJA VU, about an FBI agent that somehow goes back in time to save a woman. Of course, he has to fall in love with her before the end credits roll, sure to bend some steadfast rules of time and space in the process. I haven't read this project, but I'm not a huge fan of the set-up. I'm sure Scott would have brought a fresh style to it, but that story seems very tired, so maybe it's a good thing that Tony Scott just vacated the director's chair.
So, what's Scott up to now? Well, he still has that remake of THE WARRIORS which might get going since there seems to be a big push in the mainstream media on the original, with commercials for the DVD airing all over the place and that video game coming up. He's also supposed to be producing DIAMOND DEAD, that now infamous horror rock thingy that George Romero was trying to get off the ground pre-LAND OF THE DEAD. I talked to Romero today during our interview for the upcoming DVD release of his newest zombie flick and he seemed to think DIAMOND DEAD was... well, dead. Maybe not beyond resurrecting, but definitely turning a pale blue.
As always, we'll keep our ears to the ground for anything on what Scott is up to next... I personally dug the hell out of MAN ON FIRE and DOMINO was a damn fun movie, too (review pending). As long as he keeps working with Christopher Walken, I'm there. Wow... an image just hit me... Can you imagine Walken, arms raised in front of his young gang, shouting "Can you dig it? Caaannnn yooouuu diiiggg it?!?" Hrmm...
