Rest In Peace Don Adams

Hey folks, Quint here with some more sad news for us who grew up addicted to television. Last week Bob Denver, Gilligan himself, passed away and now Don Adams (alias Maxwell Smart) has died. He died of a lung infection at the age of 82.

I have fond memories of watching GET SMART on Nick At Night as a kid. Adams' unique voice and comic timing broke any generational barriers between the original airing of the show and the Nick At Night reruns in the '80s and made a fan of this kid. Who could forget the Cone of Silence? Or Agent 86's exaggerations? Of course I think most children of the '80s remember his voice from a very different television show.

Inspector Gadget was one of my favorite cartoons of the '80s. I wanted a Go-Go Gadget Copter! The adventures of a bumbling, but well meaning android doofus that always has to be saved by his dog and daughter totally won me over as a kid. The cartoons were a bit tainted by that terrible movie, but I still think fondly back to Inspector Gadget. I know that theme always makes me smile.

I'm also fond of Adams' appearance on one of my favorite unseen '80s comedies BACK TO THE BEACH where he spoofs his own Agent 86. "I have a yaht!" "I find that hard to believe..." "Would you believe a tug-boat?" My thoughts are with his friends, family and fans.
