IT's Supe's Birthday, but there won't be any cake for the fans!

You know I (Father Geek) am constantly amazed at the blunders that Warners current crop of Execs continuely seem to make. This report from Superman's Pal Jimmie Olsen only serves to underline that fact. Give'em Hell Jimmie...

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ,BUZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!

HELP...HELP... OH NO, THE BATTERY'S RUN DOWN IN MY WATCH AGAIN!!

Alert geeks, I come to you from some extremely disappointed Superman fans. As you must know this year marks not only Warner Bros. 75th anniversary but also the 60 anniversary of Superman and the 20th anniversary of Richard Donner's movie.

With this once in a lifetime triple anniversary upon us, don't you think this much loved film would deserve a release by Warner Bros.? Unfortunately, campaigns to re-release the film as a special edition, and campaigns to have the great John williams soundtrack remastered have fallen on deaf WB ears.

Harry, the extended version of Superman (containing the scenes cut and then added for the TV showings) was recently auctioned for over 100 dollars on an internet auction site, (www.ebay.com) proving how badly needed a SE version of this movie is. WB, would rather lose money and encourage bootlegging then show an inkling in one of its all time greatest properties.

Speaking of losing, WB LOST the written score parts to the John Williams score! Varese Sarabande, a soundtrack label, had to reconstruct the parts in an effort to release a soundtrack recording this Oct. Its quite an insult to Williams. The mere fact that another label had to do this, comes from WB's COMPLETE lack of interest in releasing on of the best and most loved scores written in the past 20years...imagine Fox mishandling Star Wars this way...in fact, many older scores (meaning the master tapes) are deteriorating as I speak. Roger Feigelson, an associate producer at the Intrada Label, tried to save these scores, but once again the response was "no".

In all WB's lack of film preservation is appalling, and its a terrible smack in the face to many Superman fans, and the thousands of actors, craftsmen and artisans who worked on the Sperman films, that WB is letting this anniversary go without any acknowledgement.

That Warner shield is tarnished indeed, and that red Superman "S" seems to have been spit on. I know that Wb released box sets of Enter the Dragon and The Exorcist, and I feel Superman (considering the 60/20 anniversary) deserves SOMETHING!

Uncool, Harry, very uncool!

Thanks for your time, I am hoping that something can be done or some issues addressed about this!

Jimmie Olsen, Superman's Pal
