Good Morning! It's Friday, Do You Know Where Your FANTASTIC FEST Badge Is'

Hey folks, Harry here - back in Austin. Yes, I'm working up the CAT BALLOU and HUD reports before QT 6 begins tonight. And while I've been out eating 6986 miles in 22 days with Tim League and the brilliant Kier-La Janisse and Wild Man Anthony Timpson - one thing constantly on all of our minds between the twists and turns of the road - we've continued to work on FANTASTIC FEST - back here in the trenches in Austin - Paul Alvarado-Dykstra, Tim McCanlies and Matt Dentler have been manning the screeners and as we're narrowing down the invites and the possibilities for this debut kick-off to this epic endeavor... there's been Poster Art being worked on, boards for FANTASTIC FEST opening film treats, scanning for the coolest Horror, Fantasy, Sci-fi and Animated Shorts in the world (there's still a chance for yours!). But today - we're ready to share a teeny bit of what's to come.
It looks like right now, the opening night film is going to be Jon Favreau's ZATHURA. I'm so jazzed for this because Jon has been kicking ass on FILM and on TV for a while now, and the look of ZATHURA - his love of physical effects, old school matte paintings and models - fused with the proper amount of CG... well, getting Jon's first foray into Science Fiction - I can't wait.
I'm very thrilled to have Robin Williams' THE BIG WHITE playing here as well. The word on this sucker has been really really outstanding, but it just hasn't really been seen by the right folks yet, and I can't wait for a great audience to get their eyes and noggins around one of those risky, cool as hell genre roles by Robin WIlliams and Holly Hunter. In particular - Tim Blake Nelson though. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite character actors. I really hope he ends up joining Clooney in the Coen's wrap-up of their IDIOT TRILOGY. Heh.
Finally we're going to be getting WOLF CREEK down here in Texas! It seems I've been editing articles about this film for quite some time, and I'm quite eager to see it with an audience that's ready to squirm and scream.
But more so - this article is about you folks out there. The Super Badges are going to be hitting the sale block this afternoon at 5pm - and ya know what? There's only going to be a select few of these suckers available for folks to buy - which cover ya for pretty much the entire shin-dig and get you into the various festivities that we'll be doing around the festival. We've got super special guests coming in and a ton more movies that... well, why blow our load all at once. Y'all know me, I'm one of them guys that loves to tease. If it was up to me, I'd keep the whole line-up secret, but I'm just one part of this festival. Working with Milkshake Media and all the above people has just been a pure joy.
If you head over to FantasticFest.Com you'll find that there's more titles, some of the amazing shorts we've found listed, and how to pick up one of these very limited badges. But remember as you look over there. This is going to be something incredibly special. Beyond the fantastic films, beyond the fantastic stars & directors we'll have there... beyond all that. This is taking place at the most fantastic place to see films. Tim League and his team of magical movie mavens are brain-storming on how to make each premiere, each event something more than just a screening. Something more than just a festival. Something, FANTASTIC!
Of course I'm Going to Be there... You've read about my past 22 days on the Road with Tim and his magic. Here's your chance for a concentrated dose of film nirvana - October 6-9. I'll see some of you there! Now excuse me, I've got so much work to do - you won't believe some of the magic we've got up our sleeves, hope you'll be a part of it.
