RIP Michael Sheard alias Admiral Ozzel, alias Maurice Bronson

Hey folks, Quint here with some sad news. Michael Sheard has died at the age of 65, losing his struggle with Cancer. Most stateside know him from his bit parts in Spielberg and Lucas' films. Specifically as Admiral Ozzel from THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK who had that great moment where you really get a feeling for just how badass Darth Vader is and how cold and ruthless he can be. "You have failed me for the last time, Admiral."

He also had the brief, but memorable role as Hitler in INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE. Remember he signed Dr. Jones' Grail Diary. Sheard also had a bit part playing a Nazi U-Boat Captain in RAIDERS as well as playing Himmler in 1973's TV movie THE DEATH OF ADOLF HITLER.

For those readers in the UK, I'm told he was most well known for a show called GRANGE HILL, playing a mean old teacher named Maurice Bronson. I've never seen this show, but judging from the amount of emails we've gotten about it I'm sure it was very popular.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sheard while attending CONvergence in Minnesota 3 or 4 years ago with Harry and Father Geek. I remember someone, might have even been Harry... my memory is hazy here, actually brought him a detailed replica of the Grail Diary to sign. I settled for an 8X10 of Admiral Ozzel. I didn't spend much time with the man, but I the impression I got was that of a very kind person. My thoughts are with his family, friends and fans.
