Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some interesting news regarding the newest classic horror remake. Variety ran a story this morning confirming that Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles are in negotiations to play the Gregory Peck and Lee Remick roles from the 1976 original. Schreiber is a pretty solid choice, I think. Stiles has the maturity (but what about the imbalance? hehe) to play the mother, but still looks a little young to me. Remick must have been what? 35-40 years old in the original? Of course Peck wasn't too a spring chicken, either...
I'm more interested in who they're going to get to play 3 key roles. One, Damien, of course. They got a great kid the first time out... both creepy and cherubic at the same time. This casting can make or break the flick. Two, the David Warner character from the original. Will I give as much of a shit about him when the heads start rolling? Warner ruled all in the original. Three, Mrs. Baylock, the evil Satanist nanny! Of the three roles, this one could be the most fun to see a great character actress sink her teeth into. Who would you cast? I'm thinking you could go obvious like Glenn Close for Mrs. Baylock... I could also see someone the general audiences don't know as a nutter, like Rachel Weisz. Don't know who I'd peg for the David Warner role. Any suggestions? Let me know!
