Well the top brass were 'blown away'! Gosh gee whillikers! Ya know what, that doesn't much mean anything to me. These same folks are screwing with PAYBACK which was a great film, and god only knows why they are doing reshoots and reshoots and more reshoots for that film. PAYBACK was in the tone of BULLIT and THE FRENCH CONNECTION and word has it they want to add 'more action'. Bah humbug, that movie was great, so what is a film that will blow Paramount away? I guess we'll see when this puppy comes out, but I'm holding off any adrenaline boost till they begin screening it and some real fans see the thing, not the suits!
I've got an update for ya.....
From Robinhud by way of Gary 8 who works on the production team:
"Sorry I haven't been in contact, but we've been a tad busy here. We've just had a screening for the Paramount execs, with the exception of our big studio chief. I'm pleased to report that the brass who have now seen this cut of STAR TREK: INSURRECTION were literally blown away, concurring with all of us that this could be the best STAR TREK movie ever... certainly the equal of the critical favorite and box office champ STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME.
Script, direction and performances were universally praised. Everyone was intensely moved and royally entertained. Rick Berman, Michael Piller and Jonathan Frakes are all to be congratulated... as well as Patrick Stewart, who commands the screen with his most dynamic performance yet as Captain Picard.
In fact, all the actors drew praise... since the script gives them ample opportunity to shine individually.
Once again, what those naysayers out here had been reading did not properly represent the final script. The folks balking at the "fountain of youth" scenario will indeed feel silly when they witness what could be the best TREK film ever.
Jerry Goldsmith is at work on his score. The effects are still being generated. A new trailer should be ready next month... and STAR TREK fans, as well as all moviegoers, are about to get a terrific Christmas present called STAR TREK: INSURRECTION.
Forgive me, but I must get back to work."
