Alrighty folks, this first bit comes from a friend I made in Fox's Legal department that keeps me up to date on purchases that 20th Century Fox makes, as well as contractual dealings with fresh talent (and stale ones for that matter). My friend wants to be called a gnome this time around, but this source is not to be looked down upon. They always deliver accurate info. Here's the gnome's report.
Eh there Harrio,
Mechanic and that Rothman is procuring two properties for the "King of the World" to turn into cinema. The first is an old Russian film called SOLARIS, a pretty cool flick from way back by Tarkovsky, who died some years ago, which was in turn taken from a book by Stanislaw Lem, who was a Polish writer of some distinction. The film was quite a gem in and of itself, so I imagine our boy, James, will do quite a bit of tinkering, though there is no guarantee that he'll actually make it himself.
The other property is BATTLE ANGEL, which is a Japanese anime from a while back. I didn't know much about this one, so I went to IMDB and found the following:
This movie takes place in a distant future, and is the story of a the young cyborg Gally, who is found on a scrapheap by the Cyberdoctor Daisuke Ido, who rebilds her and becomes her surrogate father. Gally has no memory of her past, but soon displays remarkable fighting skills. She starts working as a bounty hunter and meets a young boy Hugo, who has the impossible dream of going to Zalem. A giant satelite floating above the city. Not realising that Hugos dream can only end in missery Gally sets out to help him.

Then a separate spy sent in this report that almost slipped by me, because she seemed to be deliriously in lust with Ron Perlman and wanted to know what I knew, but then she suddenly revealed that her cel phone phreak boyfriend heard the following:
Harry, all I have is yours, and this is all I know. My honey overheard a dialogue between Cameron and a woman he didn't know about a project that Lightstorm is developing that isn't titled yet, though they did mention HELLBENT or DAMNED IF YOU DO, but that's unsure. Anyway they kept saying Stan would direct this, but they never said a last name, my honey thinks this is Stan Winston that did those cute penquins in BATMAN RETURNS, I love penguins, I collect them you see. I don't know much about the project except that the main character has to corrupt an honest soul or burn in hell forever. OH, honey says that there's a demon character that Jim thinks a certain NY based radio personality would be perfect for. Harry please stop Howard Stern from taking this role. He's an evil evil man, his grip on the minds of humanity must be broken. A line must be drawn.
