Quint's going to San Diego! Comic-Con preview here!!

&file

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little preview of what's to come from this year's San Diego Comic-Con. This'll be my 6th year attending and covering this mutha. This Con is one of the highlights of every year for me as it's a Mecca of cool. We got early looks at movies, super B-movie stars signing all four days and a collectables floor that trumps every other Con in the world (imagine 3 football fields worth of comic books, movie posters, lobby cards, artwork, studio freebies and artists from all walks of life, from the famous to the super-famous to the unknown).

Below you'll find a sort of summary of sorts, a listing of what I think is awesome and cool in the program for this year's Comic-Con. I'm going to be listing those panels and presentations I'm going to be attending and those that I wish I could attend. You'll also find a link to some of the exclusive toys from folks such as Neca, Sota, Sideshow and more, as well as to some prototypes that will be on display at the Con.

I'm at Comic-Con for the movie stuff first and foremost, so you're not going to see much TV or comics covered here. If some of you folks attending love the TV side of the Con, please feel free to write in with your coverage to harry@aintitcool.com... I'm sure the Coax readers would love to have some of that covered... same as the Comics coverage.

Also, if you've emailed me about Comic-Con in the last two weeks, please get back in touch with me at quint@aintitcool.com. My hard drive crashed and I've lost all those emails... Anyway, on to the show!

PROGRAM

This is where you'll find all the up and coming info on the big studio movies with super star guests. This year will be big and bad and awesome, with stuff on V FOR VENDETTA, HARRY POTTER, KING KONG, TENACIOUS D, HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, AEON FLUX, DOOM and much, much more. You can see the full list of panels by clicking here! Let's get down to it, shall we?

DAY ONE: THURSDAY, JULY 14TH

Thursday morning and Sunday afternoon are usually my only times during the fest where I'm not booked solid with panels and interviews, so I'll most likely be wandering the floor, looking for movie posters, movie film (trailers and such) and maybe hitting up Artists' Alley (check below for some details on who you can find there).

However, my day starts earlier than usual this year.

PHILIP K. DICK'S A SCANNER DARKLY: THE MOVIE (1:30pm-2:30pm - Rm 6CDEF) Appearing will be producer Tommy Pallotta and lead animators Sterling Allen, Evan Cagle, Nick Derington and Christopher Jennings. We got a report about some footage being shown at the Con (expect about 4-5 minutes) and I simplyu can't wait for this flick. Linklater hasn't failed me yet.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to miss most of if not all of The Digital Bits' panel that ends right when the SCANNER DARKLY panel begins. For those that don't know, The Digital Bits is one of my favorite DVD news and review websites and they're going to have DVD producers such as Charles de Lauzirika (who did the ALIEN QUADRILOGY), JM Kenny and Roberty Meyer Burnett (who is producing the DVDs for NARNIA and SUPERMAN, and who worked on all the LOTR: EEs... as well as directed fan favorite flick FREE ENTERPRISE). Sounds like a cool panel, with previews of behind the scenes of upcoming DVD stuff.

All during this time there are cool panels, like a REN & STIMPY panel (1:30-3pm - Rm 6A) with John K. and a panel with Clive Barker (2pm-3pm - Rm 6B) where you can see some of his original paintings and hear a reading.

The next panel I'm seeing for sure is:

A CONVERSATION WITH DAVID CRONENBERG (4:30pm-5:30pm - Rm 6CDEF) with Josh Olson about their collaboration on A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE. I'm working on getting an interview with Cronenberg, so cross your fingers, folks and wait... if it happens then I'm sure to embarrass myself as I geek out in front of the man.

In the two hour gap between A SCANNER DARKLY and Cronenberg there are many cool panels going on... I'm just not sure which ones I'm going to pick. We have Warner Bros' TALES FROM THE CRYPT DVD panel (4pm-5:30pm - Rm 6B) with John Kassir, the Cryptkeeper himself there. I'm a goonie freak for TALES FROM THE CRYPT, so that's tempting. There's also a panel on Will Eisner's THE SPIRIT movie (2:30pm-3:30pm - Rm 6CDEF), which is in the capable hands of the producers of HOOLIGANS (now called GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS, by the way).

Then there's the SPOTLIGHT ON BRUCE CAMPBELL (3:30pm-4:30pm - Rm 6CDEF) Bruce interacting with his fans is always entertaining.

I'm going to finish off the day by watching the very beginning of the CONSTANTINE: FROM COMIC TO FILM panel (5:30pm-7pm - Rm 6B) if only because the yummy-yummy in my tummy Rachel Weisz is going to be sitting there with the man-god that is Tim Bradstreet as they talk about the translation from comics to film (and try to pimp out some DVDs, too, I'm sure).

I'm gonna have to bail early, though, as I have a ticket (I think) for RED EYE. All you geeks at the Con can assault the Dreamworks booth to get your passes to either RED EYE for tonight or THE ISLAND for Friday night.

DAY TWO - FRIDAY, JULY 15TH

Today is the first day of the Mega-Studio assault. Due to the giant Warner Bros presentation, I'm going to miss out on a couple interesting looking panels, like SPOTLIGHT ON FORRY ACKERMAN (10:30-11:30am - Rm 3) and ART OF ADAPTING COMICS TO THE SCREEN (10:30-Noon - Rm 6CDEF) where, among others, you can hear from Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn about their writing of X2 and what they're doing with X3. Expect the Q&A at that one to be priceless, although I'd suggest taking it easy on 'em. I hear they're good guys.

There's also an Anchor Bay panel (10:30am-Noon - Rm 20) with tons of people, like Bruce Campbell (who you can show up to worship), Mark A. Altman (who you can show up to heckle for writing HOUSE OF THE DEAD) and the creative team behind Anchor Bay's release of LIGHTNING BUG, a film I really liked.

But I will be in Hall H, the massive, massive room where I spent most of my time last year at the Con and it looks to be my home again this year.

WARNER BROS PRESENTS (11am-1pm - Hall H):

V FOR VENDETTA - I'm so looking forward to this panel. Natalie Portman, Joel Silver and David Lloyd (co-creator of the comic) will be there to talk about the movie and I'm betting we'll get our first glimpse at the film

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE - I've seen previews of all 3 previous Potter movies at Comic-Con and if this year is anything like what we've seen previously, it'll be a bit of a disappointment. For PRISONER OF AZKABAN they had a 30 second video of Alfonso Cuaron and Daniel Radcliff from the set saying, "We're making Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban. Sorry we can't be at Comic-Con. The movie will be cool!" Hopefully, we'll get a little more (I'm hoping for a glimpse at Fiennes' Voldemort, personally)

TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE - It looks like no Tim Burton at this point. Instead we get Allison Abbate (producer) and co-director Mike Johnson to give us a presentation on one of my most anticipated movies of the year. I'm hearing rumor we're going to be seeing a fair amount of footage of this one! I can't wait!

THE FOUNTAIN - Darren Aronofsky and Rachel Weisz will present a preview and discussion of this upcoming flick. Do I need to say more? This will rock out!

I don't have any interviews set up with any of these people at this time, but maybe I'll hear from Warner Bros during the Con, which has happened before... not with Warner Bros, but I usually find myself running around during Comic-Con getting last minute interviews and trying to squeeze them in between panels. Last year I had to miss the big STAR WARS panel where they announced the title being REVENGE OF THE SITH because of interviews with the SKY CAPTAIN team.

One of my biggest regrets is not being able to attend the MASTERS OF HORROR panel (1:30-3pm - Rm 20) featuring Mick Garris, John Landis, Don Coscarelli, Roger Corman, Stuart Gordon and a few other surprise guests... perhaps a new daddy... perhaps... I spent some time on the set of Coscarelli's Masters of Horror segment and from what I hear and what I saw with my own eyes, this'll be a fuckin' cool series, one for every horror fan. I really wish I could see these guys talk about what's coming up, however...

SONY PRESENTS (2pm-2:45pm - Hall H):

ZATHURA - Jon Favreau will be on hand to present and discuss ZATHURA. If this flick is half as fun as it looked like it was going to be while I was onset last year, then we're in for a treat for the whole family.

THE LEGEND OF ZORRO - Looks like they're only showing a scene from the movie, but the word on the street is this is a fun flick. Can't wait to get a glimpse at a full bit of action.

AND...

This is just speculation on my part... The above two films are the only ones listed, but... BUT... Sony also has SPIDER-MAN 3 in the works and this panel at the Con would be the PERFECT time for Raimi and Co to unveil who the villains for SPIDER-MAN 3 are. We know they're cast. We've gotten hints at who they are. Time to cut out the cock teasing! If I were a betting man, I'd bet we're going to see something from Spidey 3, even if it's just an announcement. Raimi did a presentation on SPIDER-MAN and Avi Arad unveiled our first look at Dr. Octopus for Spidey 2 at Comic-Con... I think we may get a little sandy action this year. There is another SONY panel on SATURDAY, featuring GHOST RIDER with Avi there... so maybe if we're denied SPIDER-MAN 3 goodies here, we'll get it on Saturday...

Another one of the tragic cuts from the schedule (for me, at least) is the RAY HARRYHAUSEN AND ALL THINGS KING KONG panel (2:30pm-4pm - Rm 6CDEF) with the stop-motion legend discussing his career and the influence of KING KONG. Along for the ride are Mark Cotta Vaz, author of an upcoming Merian C. Cooper biography and Joe DeVito, who is releasing a book called KONG: KING OF SKULL ISLAND.

I'll be at...

DISNEY COMING ATTRACTIONS: CHICKEN LITTLE (yawn), SKY HIGH, and PIXAR'S TOY STORY 10TH ANNIVERSARY, CARS and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 2 (3pm-4:30pm - Hall H)

Pixar Vets Pete Doctor, Joe Ranft and Gary Rydstrom (well known sound designer... TERMINATOR 2, JURASSIC PARK, TITANIC, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, etc) will talk about the TOY STORY 10th Anniversary DVD (as well as show clips from the upcoming Special Edition DVD). There will also be a Comic-Con exclusive clip from CARS, an exclusive look at CHICKEN LITTLE with director Mark Dindal. From SKY HIGH, director Mike Mitchell, screenwriter Paul Hernandez and star Bruce Campbell! I don't know about you folks, but that SKY HIGH trailer made me smile. I thought the movie was going to suck, but now I'm not so sure. And I can't wait to see anything from new Pixar!!!

I think I'm going to skip out on the STAR WARS SPECTACULAR (4:45pm-6:15pm - Hall H) featuring Steve Sansweet... I made the mistake of seeing one of these in '03 and without any movie info or excitement it was all about the books and video games... tedious, in a word... at least to someone who doesn't follow the books. However... I felt a tremor in the force recently... a tremor that told me the fans might be graced by the Bearded One himself. That is just a tremor, so don't quote me on it or get pissed if it doesn't happen. My force powers are quite weak, you see...

Instead, I may head over to the LIONS GATE FILMS: THE PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE OF HORROR (4:30pm-5:30pm - Rm 6A)... They're premiering the trailer for SAW 2 (and some WWE horror movie starring Kane... ughh...)

I might follow that up with the JIM HENSON COMPANY'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY: RETROSPECTIVE AND SNEAK PEEK AT MIRRORMASK (5:30pm-7pm - Rm 6B), although there is a CARTOON NETWORK: ADULT SWIM panel at the same time (5:30pm-7pm) featuring Seth Green and Matt Senreich, who put on ROBOT CHICKEN which, while not 100% on the mark all the time, has had me rolling... love that 30th Anniversary of JAWS sketch they did. Add on co-creator of AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE and I have a tough decision.

Now, tonight... there is that screening of THE ISLAND. After THE ISLAND there is also a screening of a smaller movie that needs your support, a movie that you may not be seeing in a theater near you any time soon.

PROMEDIO ROJO is a movie that Harry alerted me to at SXSW this year and it is fall down funny, an easy geek favorite. Unfortunately, director Nicolas Lopez is busy kidnapping small children in Spain to sell back to his native Chile in order to fund his next movie, so he won't be able to attend and offend everybody with his foul mouth and purty lips... I mean, luscious lips... I mean... totally not sexy lips. The movie is showing in Rm 6B from 11pm -1am. I know it's late, but you'll love it!

DAY THREE - SATURDAY, JULY 16TH

My first panel:

WARNER BROS. PRESENTS: SUPERMAN RETURNS (10:30am-11:30am - Hall H)

Bryan Singer is no stranger to Comic-Con. He showed up the first week after X-MEN came out to present the Gag Reel (which ended up on the DVD) and discuss the film with a room full of fans who were still on an X-MEN buzz from the release. He also stopped shooting after 2 weeks to present a Comic-Con exclusive trailer of the stuff he already had (it was Wolvie going berserk defending the kids in the Mansion and Professor X and Magneto's little chat in Magneto's cell, mostly). Now he's jetting from halfway across the world to spend an hour discussing and presenting footage (how much? who knows?) from SUPERMAN RETURNS.

I'm in the process of nailing down an interview with the man himself, so watch out for that.

What I'm missing:

ABC PRESENTS: LOST, INVASION, NIGHTSTALKER (10am-Noon - Rm 20)

I'm a gonzo LOST fan and they have Sawyer (Josh Holloway), Maggie Grace (ex-Kittie Pryde) and Harold Perrineau there to discuss the events in Season 1 and to, most assuredly, give the audience blue balls in regards to Season 2. I'm interested in NIGHTSTALKER because a producer from X-FILES is producing it... however Stuart Townsend is no Darren McGavin.

PARAMOUNT PICTURES PRESENTS: AEON FLUX and WAR OF THE WORLDS (11:45am-12:45pm - Hall H)

Charlize Theron and fellow cast members will appear to talk about AEON FLUX and I'd assume we'll get our first look at a trailer or some footage here. Peter Chung (creator of the original animated series) will also be on-hand. Pablo Helman, a visual effects supervisor on WAR OF THE WORLDS will talk a little about that process... maybe we'll see some nifty behind the scenes, eh?

KEVIN SMITH (+ Richard Kelly and SOUTHLAND TALES) (1pm-2pm - Hall H)

If you've ever seen Kevin Smith speak or have watched his awesome AN EVENING WITH KEVIN SMITH DVD, then you know why you want to be here at this panel. Throw in Richard Kelly giving a special presentation on SOUTHLAND TALES and you have one of the foremost "Not to miss" panels of the Con. I'll be there with bells on.

Here I am a little shaky on what I'm going to do. This is where I'm probably going to be:

UNIVERSAL PRESENTS SERENITY AND SLITHER (2:15pm-3:15pm - Hall H)

I'm no Joss Whedon fan and I could really care less about SERENITY, however the early word on SLITHER is very promising and I'm intrigued to see more. SERENITY will have Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau, Gina Torres, Sean Maher, Ron Glass and Jewel Staite to talk about the movie. SLITHER has writer/director James Gunn, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Rooker, Gregg Henry and Nathan Fillion (I guess in honor of Comic-Con I'll call this a cross-over thanks to Fillion). I also want to hold my seat for the big SONY panel afterwards...

The reason this is a tough decision is there are three panels I'd rather see... FAMILY GUY FEATURE LENGTH DVD panel (1:30pm-2:30pm - Rm 20) There will be Comic-Con exclusive footage shown for the movie, which doesn't hit DVD until Sept. 27th, although no Seth McFarlane or any of the other voice talent... announced, at least. I love me my FAMILY GUY, so this is really a tough one for me to miss.

There's also ROB ZOMBIE: THE DEVIL'S REJECTS (2:30pm-3:30pm - Rm 6CDEF) where Zombie, Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon, Ken Foree, Matthew McGrory, Leslie Easterbrook and William Forsythe will be on-hand to show clips from and talk about THE DEVIL'S REJECTS. Add on to that the Comic-Con exclusive DEVIL'S REJECTS two pack toy from Neca and this is almost the year of the Rejects at Comic-Con.

And finally, RAY BRADBURY, RAY HARRYHAUSEN and FORREST J. ACKERMAN (3pm-4:30pm)

Bradbury and Harryhausen have been best friends for around 70 years. Think about that. Both are legends in their fields and Ackerman is one of us, a geek who created FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND and ended up influencing multiple generations of filmmakers and filmfans. They will discuss fantasy, sci-fi, horror and all things in-between. I was lucky enough to see them talk (minus Ackerman but plus Harlan Ellison and Harry Knowles... wha-wha... all true) at DragonCon in '98 and I regret not being able to see them talk again this year. I'm afraid every year that it'll be my last time to see these three together.

I'm staying in the 6500 seater Hall H for the next panel:

SONY PRESENTS (3:30pm-5pm - Hall H)

UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION - Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, Len Wiseman (director) and effects artist Patrick Tatopoulos will return to Comic-Con to present a sneak peek at this sequel. I didn't care much for the original... thought it had a lot of promise and is only marginally successful, but I'm curious to see what the sequel will look like. Plus Beckinsale in person is always worth watching.

GHOST RIDER - Oh yeah! I'm hoping for the best with this one. Mark Steven Johnson caught a lot of shit for DAREDEVIL, a movie I liked theatrically and really, really, really liked when I saw his director's cut on DVD. I love the promotional images so far and I think visually GHOST RIDER could be the most impressive comic book character realized on the screen. Johnson will be there with Eva Mendes and Avi Arad to show us our first look at the film.

NOTE TO AVI - BRING IN RAIMI AND REVEAL THE SPIDER-MAN 3 VILLAINS! YOU'LL BLOW THE ROOF OFF THE JOINT!!! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO DO IT!!!

THE FOG - Director Rupert Wainwright will present an early look at THE FOG remake along with star Maggie Grace. I love John Carpenter's original and hope they pulled this one off, but I'm hearing rather mixed and negative word from friends who would know.

I'd love to join in on THE SIMPSONS (4:30pm-5:30pm - Rm 20) with Matt Groening and a bunch of his producers... I'm sure there'll be a lot of questions about the upcoming SIMPSONS movie as well as to where the show is going to next... however...

UNIVERSAL PRESENTS: KING KONG (5:15pm-6:15pm - Hall H)

One hour. Peter Jackson won't be there... however New Line's Tenacious D panel is scheduled right after this panel, so I'd put some money down that Jack Black will be there to discuss playing Carl Denham. We're also assured to have some exclusive scenes from the flick to get our salivary glands pumping in overtime. This is one of my most anticipated events at the Con.

NEW LINE CINEMA PRESENTS: TENACIOUS D (6:30pm-7pm - Hall H)

This appears to not be a panel about TENACIOUS D IN "THE PICK OF DESTINY," the feature Tenacious D flick, but rather a half-hour set by the D themselves, Jack Black and Kyle Gass. I know they've written and recorded a whole bunch of new music for the movie, so I'm hoping to hear some of that here. Go D!!!!

DAY FOUR - SUNDAY, JULY 17TH

Usually I can count on Sunday being a little light on panels, giving me a nearly full day to go around the floor, picking up some last minute deals and catching as many sketches in my sketch book as I can. This year is a little busier, as I said before...

ROGUE PICTURES PRESENTS CRY WOLF (11am-11:30am - Hall H)

As a genre lover, I'm really curious about this flick. Rogue has been on a roll, but I was mixed on the trailer released a month or two ago. It could swing either way from what I've seen, so I'm interested in seeing more. Here stars and filmmakers will make a presentation. On the panel are Julian Morris, Lindy booth, Sandra McCoy, Kristy Wu, Jeff Wadlow and Beau Bauman.

UNIVERSAL: DOOM (11:30am-12:30pm - Hall H)

The Rock, Karl Urban, Lorenzo DiBoneventura, John Wells, Jon Farhat (special effects supervisor) and Id Software's Todd Hollenshead will be there to talk about the flick and (I'd guess) to show some footage from the movie. I think a really scary and fun movie could be made with the basic plot and creatures of DOOM. However the early word has the movie being almost nothing like any of the games... So, I guess I'll see what it looks like at this panel. I love that Doug Jones (Abe Sapien) is playing multiple Imps in the film... I'm hoping for it to be the first truly successful (on all levels) video game flick.

WALT DISNEY PICTURES/WALDEN MEDIA PRESENT THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE (12:30pm-1:30pm Hall H)

Director Andrew Adamson, producer Mark Johnson, the lovely Richard Taylor, the amazing Howard Berger (the B of KNB EFX) and the lovely and amazing Dean Wright (CGI visual effects supervisor, who also did the LOTR films) will all be chilling in Hall H for a "revealing look" at NARNIA. I know I'm a little weary about this project, but I'm hoping it works. I really am. I love the original material and would love to love the movie. This should be fun, if only to hear Richard Taylor speak. I have spent time with all the effects guys on the panel and they all know their shit and are just like you and me. Geeks to the core. This'll be a fun panel...

Too bad I'm going to have to miss the UBISOFT PRESENTS PETER JACKSON'S KING KONG panel (12:30pm-1:30pm - Rm 6A) for it. Am really curious to see how that's coming along... I've only seen those screenshots that appeared after E3. I'm also missing the THRESHOLD panel (Noon-1pm - Rm 20). It's a new TV show... that in and of itself doesn't interest me, but it's got David Goyer (Batman Begins), Brannon Braga (Star Trek) and David Heyman (Harry Potter) producing and it stars Carla "Yum-Yum" Gugino, Charles S. Dutton, Brian Van Holt, Rob Benedict, Peter Dinklage and Brent Spiner... who will all be there. That's a helluva cast. I love The Dink... Too much cool in that show.

That's about it on the panel aspect...

COMIC-CON EXCLUSIVE TOYS

Ahh, the toys. There's about 150 Comic-Con exclusives this year, so I'm going to highlight the ones I'm looking forward to the most, but I'll also point you to the good folks at Action-Figure.com who have a brilliant checklist with info, prices and pics of the toys. You can see this checklist by clicking on anything that says "Action-Figure.com. I can't tell you how many people I've seen with printouts of the Action-Figure.com checklists at past Comic-Cons and I doubt this year will be any exception.

Here are the toys I'm most looking forward to picking up or at least wishing I could afford.

Sirius Black Bust... this looks real nice. Who doesn't want Gary Oldman on their mantle?

Camo Master Chief I love me my HALO and since I've already pre-ordered my "Hologram Leia" exclusive, I figure why not round out the "clear figures?

Palisades Alien Bust Giger alien = cool as shit!

NECA:

Bloody Marv... Kinda sucks that it's in color, but it comes with a decapitated Elijah Wood head, so fuck yeah I'm buying it!

Sin City Rafferty Badge This is one of the coolest offerings in my opinion... The bullet-damaged Benicio del Toro badge from SIN CITY...

Devil's Rejects 2-Pack This is Sid Haig and Sheri Moon Zombie in toy form... I just got back from seeing the movie and these two are great... I might have to pick this one up...

SIDESHOW:

Sideshow has some good stuff this year, as I'm sure you've seen on the front page for the last few months. Cut-scene Luke with floppy hat from STAR WARS (which I can't afford) and that cool 12 Inch Hellboy... All the Sideshow exclusives can be seen by clicking the above link.

ARTISTS' ALLEY and AUTOGRAPHS

ARTIST'S ALLEY

This is where you can assault artists both famous and infamous... and not famous... them too. Anyway, tons of people here, including Tim Bradstreet, Jim Lee, Marv Wolfman and the coolest of the cool... the man, the myth, the legend Bernie Wrightson. There's everything from original art to prints that you can buy and get signed and you may even talk a sketch or two out of these talented people if that's your thing.

AUTOGRAPHS

Go to the link above to see the complete run down. You'll find everybody and their mother signing pics for a price here... My favorites are below.

From internet goofballs like the RED VS BLUE team (make sure to ask Bernie how good he is at Hold 'Em if you corner him!) to Reggie Bannister (a great guy, by the way), Ray Bradbury, Ray Harryhausen, Bruce Campbell, Steve Niles, Nicholas Brendon, a ton of SUPERMAN and SUPERMAN 2 cast members including Margot Kidder, Jack O'Halloran, Sarah Douglas, Marc McClure and Jeff East...

These are the coolest... Sam Jones... That's right, FLASH GORDON himself... no shit... Marc Singer... That's right, BEASTMASTER himself... no shit. PJ muthafuckin' Soles. I met her at a HALLOWEEN event Anchor Bay threw many, many moons ago and she was a sweetheart and still hot. I think the best of the best, the coolest of the cool at the autograph area this year is Mr. William Smith. Those who know who William Smith (not the rapper) is cool in my book. Conan's daddy... The HOOOOLLLYYYWOOOOOOD MAN himself. Classic badass actor of the '70s and '80s.

That's about it. There is no preparing for Comic-Con, not really. But now you either know what you're missing or you have a nice idea about what is going on if you're one of the 100,000 attendees.

My coverage begins this Thursday night. Be there or be square! Until then, this is Quint bidding you all a fond farewell and adieu.
