Well my plea for more info on Brian Helgeland's SINEATER paid off with a spy named "D" (wonder if his gal is Lucy, go get em Jonathan). This sounds really quite promising. Let's keep our eyes and ears open for more on this project!
You wanted additional information on Brian "the man" Helgeland's latest film Sin Eater, well I happen to have the script in my possession. First of all, the film is very dark and fairly disturbing. Sin Eater is not a metaphorical title either, it's literal in every sense of the words. Here's the basic plot:
The Sin Eater to which the title refers is an immortal man who absolves people of their sins, but does it outside of the church.Whenever he does this, the person dies a horrible death. The police are dumbfounded, so they send an expert on the occult in to investigate, a priest named Alex who is on the edge (casting away demons and ghosts for a living can do that to you I guess).
The detective in charge just happens to be an ex fling of Alex whom he desired and considered leaving the priesthood for. It's not long before alex finds out who the murderer is and goes to the Vatican for help. They, of course, find it all hard to swallow so he's basically on his own. He takes an ancient book and dagger which he believes is the only thing that can kill the Sin Eater and goes after him. I don't wanna spoil the rest in case it is turned into a movie.
Needless to say, it is going to be a very interesting film with kick ass visuals. I have yet to be disappointed by anything Brian Helgeland does. I also saw Payback and I loved it. And I can't wait to see this one.
