The Fox RealityChannel Arrives!!

I am – Hercules!!

What may be the first of many all-unscripted channels (or at least the first not called MTV) launched quietly during the last 48 hours of sweeps. DirecTV subscribers can now find Fox Reality on channel 250.

Can’t yet find a website for the venture, but pressing my “GUIDE” button over and over reveals its programming is mostly repeats of “The 5th Wheel,” “EX-treme Dating,” “Cops,” “Real Stories of the Highway Patrol,” “Arrest and Trial,” “Joe Millionaire,” “World’s Most Shocking Moments Caught on Tape,” “World’s Scariest Explosions,” and lots and lots of paid programming.

There are two bits of Fox Reality Channel programming I’d guess are likely new to American TV:

* “Single Girls,” an Australian show about four nakedness-prone young women who move into a luxury penthouse and begin trolling for dudes; and

* “The Villa,” an Australian dating game about eight drunkend singles abandoned to a Spanish resort.

Promos suggest “Last Comic Standing,” “The Swan,” “The Simple Life” and “Temptation Island” are expected to join the channel soon.

Were Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader two different people in the early drafts of “The Empire Strikes Back”? All is revealed in The Annotated Screenplays (Star Wars, Episodes IV-VI)

Look! A fabulous new book co-edited by big-deal "Buffy"-"Firefly"-"Gilmore Girls" TV writer Jane Espenson. She introduces each of the essays, and the whole book besides: Finding Serenity : Anti-Heroes, Lost Shepherds and Space Hookers in Joss Whedon's Firefly
