Capone alerts his fellow Chicago citizens about the RAIDERS ADAPTATION screening This Friday!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with Capone, shilling for the brilliant shot for shot remake of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK that we've been singing the praises about for quite a long while here at AICN. '80s. Video camera. Inventive kids. Can't get enough. Anyway, here's Capone to give you Chicago-ites the lowdown on how to see this flick! Enjoy!

Hey, everyone. Capone in Chicago here with big, big, big news for everyone (at least those of you in my fair city) who has been desperate to catch the biggest movie event in all of history. No, not the one with Sith in the title. I'm referring, of course, to the glorious shot-for-shot remake of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK that those ingenious teenagers spent seven years of their lives during the 1980s putting together with only a home video camera and a dream. I was one of the blessed who caught about the first hour or so of this at BNAT 4 during the breakfast break, and I was among the loudest of those who booed with much fervor when the film was stopped in order to play whatever far-inferior film was next on Harry's playlist for the day. Probably a lame LORD OF THE RINGS movie or some such nonsense.

By now you probably know the legend of this film, since it's been well-documented on this site. If not, here's Harry's take on it when the film premiered in Austin shortly after the BNAT showing:

HERE, RIGHT HERE!!!

Apparently Daniel Clowes is writing the screenplay about the childhood adventures of the filmmakers, and Paramount is threatening to release it. I pray this happens. Anyway, this potentially once-in-a-lifetime screening of the Steven Spielberg-approved, Vanity Fair-featured RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK: THE ADAPTATION is a benefit for The Chicago International Film Festival's 2005 Future Filmmakers Festival, and is taking place this Friday, May 13 at 8:30 p.m., at Columbia College's Film Row Cinema (1104 S. Wabash, 8th Floor). Tickets are $20; $10 with a student ID. Probably the best way to get tickets in advance is to go to:

THIS SITE RIGHT HERE! GO!

Or you can call 312-425-9400, ext. 102, although I didn't have much luck getting through today.

More than likely, I'll be doing something for the event, possibly involving the after-screening Q&A with filmmakers Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala. But even if I'm not, I'll be right there watching it just to see how the story turns out. Don't ruin it for me!! See you there.

email: You know, Capone did a shot for shot remake of his favorite movie as a kid, too... It's called DEEP THROAT, but his version will get you landed in jail! Email him here to ask about more info!
