Prequel Delayed' Pushed back 6 months' Now with Harry's comments...

Harry Here. The below was posted by Father Geek, not me. When I was in London, I talked to many people that worked on the Star Wars sets. It was believed by some that they wouldn't make the scheduled release date, but then they also thought the Indiana Jones Special Editions would be released instead. I said, "Bullshit". This has been a rumor...RUMOR..floating around for a looooong time now. In no way am I lending validity to it, but Father Geek's point was to offer it up for discussion. AICN does not say PREQUEL WILL BE DELAYED, we say this other source does, and the other source quotes Ewan. Maybe the other source made up the fact they talked to Ewan, maybe the story was turned in to them by a 2nd grader whose Dad was supposed to write the story. I don't know. But whatever... the goal of the piece was to not only stimulate conversation, but to get word from inside via the spies. The only word I've gotten thus far is... 'Tis bullshit'.

----------------

Star Wars Fans be prepared. The release of Prequel One may be delayed 6 or 7 months. This word comes to us from the British Press. We at AICN are pulling out the stops to either confirm or not this information. Calling all spies at ILM, What do you know about this? Let us know ASAP.

Some info about delaying the Prequel release. I read this in 'Flicks', a movie magazine in England. It says the Prequels will be held up for a while, although Lucas had hoped for Ep. 1 to preview May 25. Let me give you the rest pretty much verbatim.

A technical hitch has left 40% of the SFX footage unusable, which 'could set the release back.' According to Ewan McGregor: "I think right now it's safe to say Christmas 1999, right before the end of the millennium. Good timing, I think. There's 18 months of post-production. There were two years of pre- production and three and a half months of shooting. That shows you how important the acting is."

McGregor points out that in Star Wars the effects are almost as vital as the actors: "Making a film like Star Wars was unique. There were times when I had not the faintest idea of what was going on. It was all that blue-screen bullshit. It's quite hard to keep your mind on the acting when all the props are taken away from you."

That's it, about the Prequel. Other tidbits from 'Flicks' are as follows:

1) Winona Ryder to star in "Lost Souls", a 'psychological' thriller. She plays a teacher who has to persuade an attorney that he is involved in a conspiracy to bring Satan to earth as a human. Meg Ryan produces, Janusz Kaminski (cinematographer on Shindler's List) makes his directoral debut.

2) Tom Cruise and Sally Field working on a mountaineering biopic, based on 'Touching the Void' by Joe Simpson. About a mountaineer left for dead by his climbing partner after a fall in the Peruvian Andes in 1985. Amazingly, he survives for four days without food or water and with a smashed leg. He gets rescued.

3) Mike Myers is writing a live-action version of Scooby-Doo; unknown whether he'll star in it.

4) Alicia Silverston to exec produce and star in the comedy "Stand By Your Man" as a woman who marries a convicted criminal for the notoriety.

5) Julia Roberts and Richard Gere to star in romantic comedy "Runaway Bride". She plays a woman who keeps standing her fiances up at the altar.

Hope this proves interesting.
