Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some great news for us Mac owners out there and some shitty news for all the rest of you PC people. Right now, for the moment, Quicktime 7 has been released for Macs only. The big update to this version of QT is the addition of HD codecs. Now we can have these amazing HD quality trailers that are effin' huge. I feel a little triumphant after suffering through countless WMV disasters after they failed to interact with my system! Eat it Windows Media! You suck!
I love it so far, but even I will admit QT 7 is not perfect. You MUST have fast speed as the files are massive; most over 100 megs big and it seems that having Quicktime Pro is a necessity more than a luxury with this new version as you can't save regular trailers without having Pro. So, yeah... that's gay... but I tell you... There are 4 trailers you can download right now... SERENITY, FANTASTIC FOUR, BATMAN BEGINS and KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and seeing BATMAN BEGINS and KINGDOM OF HEAVEN clear and taking up almost all 17 inches of my powerbook's screen... breathtaking.
Never fear Windows and PC users. I'm sure Apple will have QT 7 ready for you folks soon. Us Mac users get to bask in the glory of HD, but our moment is fleeting. I'm sure more tech-savvy readers will be in the talkback down below to fill you in on other pluses of QT 7 (the 24 channel surround capability intrigues me, personally...).
Okay, I'm off to re-watch KINGDOM OF HEAVEN in HD!
