Another set report from DOUBLE JEOPARDY

OK geeks, genre junkies, a women in prison flick. Ah, the memories; BLACK MAMA WHITE MAMA, SWEET SUGAR, CHAINED HEAT, THE BAMBOO DOLL HOUSE, the list goes on and on. Where have these been lately? Tarantino showed us some last time he was in Austin, but there's been nothing new for a while, until now. Oh for the days of REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS and CHAIN GANG GIRLS.

Until recently, I was a resident of Prince George, British Columbia, which is an eight hour drive North of Vancouver. In early July, there was a casting call for extras in Double Jeopardy. They were required for scenes in an all female prison. Apparently, Ashley Judd plays a woman who is wrongly imprisoned for a significant length of time. Prince George was chosen because it had one of the only unoccupied prisons in North America (there was a new facility opened several years ago). My roommate was lucky enough to have been chosen to be an extra. Her scenes required her to be fitted for standard prison attire, sleeping attire, and exercise attire. One of the scenes filmed was a Christmas dinner sequence. While Ashley Judd was in the scenes, Tommy Lee Jones was not, so we are unsure of what his character may be, but he is most likely her defense lawyer or the prosecuter that imprisoned her. This was big news in Prince George and its first taste of Hollywood since the brewery scenes for Strange Brew were filmed there years ago.

If you decide to use this, just call me Ishmael.
