Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
I really liked THE HEART OF THE WARRIOR, Daniel Monzon’s earlier film about kids playing a D&D-like game who get caught up in the fantasy, and I’m interested in his new one. Sounds like he’s aiming at something designed to play to a more international audience this time around, too:
It has begun the filming of The Kovak Box, a spanish sci-fi thriller directed by Daniel Monzón (The Heart of the Warrior) who writtes the scrip with Jorge GuerricaechevarrÃa (Alex de la Iglesia's colaborator), and with Tomothy Hutton in the leading role. LucÃa Jiménez (The Good Life), David Kelly (Charlie & the Chocolate Factory) and Gary Piquer (Romasanta) are the rest of the principal cast.
Synopsis:
David Norton is used to being in control. As a best-selling author, he decides the fate of his characters, his heroes, his villains, their lives and their deaths. But what happens when his fictional world becomes all too real?
David arrives in Majorca, an idyllic Mediterranean island, for a conference. Everything seems to be going well until his fiancée receives a strange telephone call. Suddenly, she jumps to her death from their hotel balcony. What could possibly have driven her to do this? As David desperately searches for an answer, people start dying all around him, inexplicably committing suicide.
David becomes the reluctant hero of one of his own stories, but this time, he has no idea how it ends. The writer crosses paths with a young tourist named Silvia, who has survived her own suicide attempt, and together they are plunged into a nightmarish game that could spell disaster for the whole of mankind.
To prevent this, David must now do what nobody else has done: he must somehow find a way to escape from The Kovak Box.
