Hey folks, Harry here with a report from the set of BENCH WARMERS, a comedy starring Rob Schneider, David Spade, Jon Lovitz and hero to spazoids everywhere... Jon Heder! That's right, the Liger Lover is back in an all new film! Here ya go...
Hi-de-ho Harry ....
First time writer here ... been hanging out at the Agoura Hills, CA shoot of the Adam Sandler penner and produced Bench Warmers, thought I'd pass word on to you.
Shooting thus far has comprised mostly of scenery/background sort of things, mostly involving Rob Schneider driving up and down a street. There was a fairly funny scene, however, involving a bunch of kids gathering around another little kid ... only to fart in his face (to the chant of "Beef stew! Beef stew!" ... a line probably destined to grace the halls of Junior High schools everywhere).
Rob Schneider and Jon Heder then run in and stop the kids. Napoleon Dynamite fans everywhere will be happy to hear the Heder dusts off the insult "Idiots!" for this film. According to the set moms, the movie consists of these guys (Rob Schneider (playing a gardener), Jon Heder (an overaged paperboy), David Spade (a slacker) and John Lovitz (a rich guy)) who have a ton of bitterness built up from over the years because they were childhood nerds who got picked on by the bullies. In order to deal with this bitterness, they (in their adult lives) form a little league baseball team so that they can compete against a new generation of child bullies.
To me, the whole movie seems to be a mix of Dodgeball and the Sandlot. I can't help but think that Adam Sandler is running out of sports to make movies about, but all in all I think the movie will be entertaining and will have Jr. Highers giggling until they puke up their Rockstars.
On a sidenote, Jon Heder, David Spade, and Rob Schneider are all very nice guys ... they took time to sign autographs, take pictures, and play hackeysack with a bunch of the local high schoolers.
