Info on BOND 19 from the land of fish and chips...

Well here's the latest that the British tabs are spouting, and well ya ought to take it with a grain or wheelbarrel of salt, cause the Brit's tabloids aren't the most reliable source, though from time to time they nail stories dead on. So here ya go, from a source on the other side of the pond...

Anyway, today's The Sunday Times has a huge article about the new Bond Film. You see in London, they are currently building this huge tent like construction called the millenium dome which has already proven to be a big flop cos' it's just too bloody expensive. So in order to salvage the project in real life by harnessing the global box-office appeal of the Bond films, the new film, which is to be released next November is going to see 007 trying to prevent the dome's enemies from blasting the giant tent into oblivion. The villain is expected to be played by Robbie Coltrane, the guy who played Valentin Zukovsky in GoldenArse(not my favourite Bond Film). Now I know about the rumours regarding his coming back for the new film, but as a villain, now that would be cool and dark. Trust No One Mr. Bond.

The climax of the film is apparently going to be set in the turn of the millenium party in the dome. Celebrities, millionaires, world leaders join the countdown in the futuristic interior of the dome, oblivious to the danger of a massive bomb, primed to explode at the same instant as the firework display. After a high speed chase along the Thames, Bond is expected to difuse the device just in time-as firework explosions rip through the night sky.

According to the article, Eon has already requested for rights to film inside the Dome from the New Millenium Experience Company, which is to build and to operate the Dome. The film will be directed by Michael Apted, whose credits include Gorillas in the Mist and the scriptwriters, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who are also British, have done the first draft of the screenplay.

There are lots more in the article but mainly about the Dome and not the film so I can't be bothered to type it up. Anyway, AL signing off....
