Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
Yes, it’s true. As soon as I post this last story, I’m off to pack and head to the airport so that I can fly to Montreal. It’s a quick trip... I’ll be back in LA by Friday... but I wouldn’t miss this. I’m headed to the set of THE FOUNTAIN, the Darren Aronofsky film that Warner Bros. and New Regency are currently producing. I’m a huge fan of this project, and you’ll recall my script review way back when this was still a Brad Pitt movie. I know Aronofsky and co-writer Ari Handel have done some major work on the script since then, but I trust that it’s still as heartfelt and fascinating as that earlier draft was.
I’m going to get into town on Wednesday night a little late for dinner with the Warner Bros. people, but if any of you spies in Montreal have anything urgent you’d like to discuss, or if any of you just want to hang out and have a few drinks and chat geek for a while, then you can leave me a message at The Saint Sulpice Hotel under my fake travel name of “Drew McWeeny.”
Otherwise, I’ll be back and working to transcribe my thoughts about the trip over the weekend. I’ve also got a trio of reviews for movies that played Sundance this year, including Kirby Dick’s shattering new documentary TWIST OF FAITH and Australia’s latest export, WOLF CREEK. There are two DVD columns in the pipeline, and a few other goodies as well, including details on the OLDBOY screenings that AICN is hosting here in LA next month. Should be a busy weekend at the Labs. Until then...
"Moriarty" out.
