UPDATED!!! Harry's in the Hospital

Hey folks, Harry here... Just regained consciousness about 20 minutes ago. Got back to my room to see a funeral wreath sent from some wiley talkbackers! Smells wonderful! Apparently it took them only an hour to work on the ankle and do the rivets and bionic parts. Oddly enough, I'm not sick to my stomach, wheezy or anything else. Instead - I'm just addicted to watching Jean Simmons on TCM. Post-op they have me on oxygen (fucking thing itches my nose), got a drip thingee - Think it's just glucose, but could be something else... There's an outlet on the wall that says VALIUM - but they don't have that hooked up goddammit. Foot smarts a bit - but otherwise I feel pretty good about the whole thing. Thanks for all the well-wishes... I'm getting a separate apartment till I get back up on both feet... Geek HQ just isn't wheelchair friendly. But all went well! So far! Now here's what Dad wrote earlier....

Father Geek here... at 4am Sat. morning 4 year old KublaKhan and I had to haul Harry down to the Seton Medical Center emergency ward here in Austin, Texas... Today , Monday the 31st he is having reconstructive surgery on his left leg and ankle. For the last couple of days its been in a black Iron Boot that Lil' Kubla says looks like Robocop's leg. He's also a little worried that his Uncle Harry is going to turn into a Werewolf while in the hospital. (he's seen American Werewolf in London several times) On Sat-nite Kubla on spoting the massive discolorization in Harry leg queried, "Is Harry turning into a Zombie? (we saw Return of the Living Dead a couple of weeks ago) He stayed up all night in the emergency room eyeing every machine they hooked Harry up to, asking what every sound and blinking light was about. He finally dozed off at about 11:30 am.

Harry will be at the Hospital in room #661 thru Wednesday at least. He can check E-mail but it's dial-up sooooo keep the messages small. Someone sent him a lifesize plush "Chestburster" which he has coiled around the metal frame that holds his leg up... sooooo he hasn't lost his sense of humor, but that may be the morphine. I'll let him explaine the details for this trip, if he wants to, buuuuut it is not a result of the record Boston Blizzard we were in last week, or the actions of the rumored Chinese Terrorists said to have invaded that town while we were there. As with most things concerning Harry there is more than a little irony involved in this little tragedy... An example of that is that at the foot of Harry's hospital bed there hangs a framed print of a painting of a blizzard in Boston reminding Harry of his last painless moments...

Once again Harry is at: SETON MEDICAL CENTER, 1201 W. 38th St., 78705, Austin, Texas in room #661 having screws, pins, and metal plates put in his left leg and ankle and will be there for at lest a couple of more days. If you're someone with his cel phone number... he does have that phone with him in his room, however since he has to use dial-up connections for internet access the actual Hospital room phone isn't really available for calls in... Father Geek out...

A note to the writers who normally send weekly columns to me to post... I'll more than likely have other duties to perform this week soooo I may not get around to posting anything, sorry.
