Ya know, for all the bitching and moaning about Warner Brothers there is hope on the horizon, of course last year we were thinking the same thing, but this time I really think there could possibly be some decent projects coming our way. The first being THE GREEN MILE, which is technically a Castle Rock film, but Warners will be the distributor. Not to mention Eyes Wide Shut, which I found out yesterday would begin editing and dubbing in October, and they anticipate the process taking EIGHT MONTHS!!! And then there is WILD WILD WEST which is sure to be a box office biggie next July 4th, that's if Star Wars doesn't completely dominate the summer, but personally I think Star Wars is going to help a lot of other pics. It'll be the tent pole that will be sold out all the damn time, so other flicks will get the spill over. So is Warner on a 12-step program to regain it's health, or is this another illusion. We'll keep a close eye on this project and watch for neon and latex nipples... which come to think of it, are mentioned...below...
Starsky and Hutch here. We have sent you info before but this is was a big deal for us. While recently taking a tour of the Warner Brothers studio, we were allowed on the set of the big movie of next summer, THE WILD WILD WEST. It was incredible.
To tell the truth, we were not really looking forward to the film. We didnt like the show and how often does a TV show translate into a great movie. Now we cant wait for July 4 1999.
Will Smith doesnt really have a great track record with us. Bad Boys was good thanks to Mike Bay, but Independence Day and MIB kinda sucked. Enemy of the State looks like it will kick major ass but this sounds cool too.
The story is that this guy named Loveless, played by Kenneth Branagh, plans to assassinate the president and take over America and sell it to other countries. Will Smith and Kevin Kline play the guys that stop him. Salma Hayek and that model with the weird name play the love intrests.
When we visited the set, they were filming the scene where Will goes undercover into Loveless' lair as a stripper. We saw Will in drag! It was hilarious. Heres the twist, Will has these things in his fake breasts that shoot out fire. The scene seeemed to take forever to film.
We met Will quickly and we met a great character actor. M. Emmett Walsh.Kevin Kline is in the scene but his wife Phoebe Cates was there so we couldnt meet him.
The film was on its 60th day of shooting. I know youre already looking forward to the film from the posts you have already had.
Here's something interesting too, The director Barry Sonnenfeld broke his arm in a punching contest with Will Smith. He was wearing a cast when we visited.
We didnt get to see the giant spider they built for the film but it sounds cool. But we're sure this film wont need much help being a hit. July 4 is Wills magic date. Bye Harry!
