Here's a report that should really interest you fantasy freaks out there. A Shannara film is in the works, its a couple of years from our local multi-plex, but still a really good fantasy flick is always needed. Now here's what Lord Talix has dug up for us.
Vision Entertainment has been working with author Terry Brooks (author of the NY Times Bestseller The Sword of Shannara and others of the series) to put together a script from one of his most recent books, First King of Shannara. This was a prequel book to Sword. The script is being drafted now, and the owner of Vision Entertainment, Liam Richardson, is personally taking on the job of writing it. He is a Brooks fan himself, and seems dedicated to the task. He promises in writing that there WILL be a movie, and that production is expected to start in mid-2000. Interestingly, they are taking a survey from fans all about what they would like to see in the movie, where and how it should be filmed, what actors should play the roles, how long it should be, etc.
You can find out more (and confirm this testimony) by going to http://www.thegrid.net/grandmaster/brooks/movie/movie.html.
Anyway, Let me know what you think. The project looks like it has huge potential, especially if they get a talented director.
