Maverick is dealing us a hand about a Carbondale, Ill. Sci-Fi film shoot. This sounds pretty cool. Anybody out there know more details? If you do, let us know. Well, here's what Bret, or is it Bart, found out.
I have just heard about a new movie that is being filmed in Southern Illinois around Carbondale. The title of the film is Betaville and is being made by a company called Popcorn Cinema. I got this information from a local newspaper the Southern Illinoisan. It gives a short summary of the film in a caption with a picture of the set. The description follows; "The film 'Betaville,' is set in 2048 and is about a summer camp for the offspring of world leaders. The camp is ment to further world peace while the world is invaded by aliens." The film is being shot in Giant City State Park south of Carbondale. The caption says the movie will be on location there for about a month.
For your information Giant City State Park is covered by hardwood forests and bluffs and a CCC constructed lodge built in the 1930's. This would be the second movie shot in the area in the past couple of years, the last being US Marshalls.
Don't know much more than that and the premise sounds "interesting" or maybe "strange" is a better word for it anyway, post this piece of information if you can use it.
